I have a JVC digital camcorder and just bought a memory card. It works fine for photos, but I cannot get it to record video. I would like to be able to record some video and put it on computer to email. I really have no idea how to do this... someone please help an ignorant person!

I wouldn't suggest using a memory card to record your videos cause sometimes you can't transfer it to the computer. And I heard it will produce lower quality videos.
I don't have a JVC so I can't really answer the how-to section if you still want to go ahead with a memory card.

I have no idea about your particular model, but my canon only uses the memory card for still photos. If I'm shooting video, it records these files on my dv tape. In my case, there is no way around this. A still image camera will record short video files onto the flash memory card, so perhaps this is where the confusion sets in. Anyway, most likely, the only way to transfer the video file to an email attatchment is to first transfer the video file to your machine using a firewire cable and using appropriate software to perform the capture. You can then attatch the file to your email message provided the size of the file doesn't exceed the limits of your email service provider.

You cannot record video on that camcorder's memory card.

Your digital digicam also will take a cassette, you ought to play this lower back by using means of the camcorder, both excellent right into a collection-ideal dvd or VHS recorder (notwithstanding s-video or RCA cables) or you ought to bypass it on your computing device by using means of the firewire connection and burn a DVD from there.

my sony uses a memory stick, but to be honest,I don't bother with it that much. Its just really for emergencies ie running out of tape. This is probably useless to you but on my sony it has 3 settings when you turn the knob to switch it on ..tape (for recording to DV tape),memory stick and play.If I record with the button on memory stick and press record on the vid,it will automatically record video to the memory stick.Hope that helps.
