Death is something you never get over. The loss of a loved one, be it human or animal, will always be with you. My best advice is to embrace that & make it a part of your life with your new friend. Talk to your new dog & tell him about the one that's gone over the rainbow bridge & will be waiting for all your friends when it's their time.
Eventually the pain will recede to more tolerable levels & you'll find yourself laughing and remembering the good times, more than the agony of the loss.....and in doing so, you'll have bonded with another wonderful companion.
I truly am sorry for your loss & I hope that the new friendship you form will be comforting to you sooner than later.

I just this morning was crying over my dog, Bella, who I had to have put down on April 22 of this year, because of horrible hip dysplasia. We tried several surgeries, and she was forever on medicine and pain killers. Walked really funny, and was the best dog I ever had. it broke my heart that day-. she went completely paralyzed from her waist down, but other wise was totally alert and with it. I don't know why some days just get to me more than other days-It was a day like today when she was put down-cloudy, raining and crappy.I'm afraid our hearts will be broken for a long time to come. I know that if anyone else had had my dog they porbably would not have spent the thousands of dollars to try and get het healthy-all the medicine, operations, special equipment-They probably would have given up on her a lot earlier. I know in my heart she knew she was loved. That's all we can go on. Good Luck-Hang in there. Some days just suck really bad.

I feel for your loss...I lost my bottle fed Rotti (11yrs old) on June 29, 2006(I owned his mother, so I have had him since the day he was born)...Your new dog should not have been a replacement...your new pup (I say: no matter what age, if it is new to you, it is a pup!) is an entirely new dog...you will never replace your other dog...if you love your new pup, give it all the love and attention you would have lavished on the other.
You will never get over the loss of your beloved pet, but it does get better...you now have a new pup to care for...he/she needs you and you need him/her!
Sorry for your loss!

Sometimes grieving can be a slow process. Just remember the good memories you have of you and your dog spending quality time togethre. This will help ease the pain of losing him some. It will take some time, but eventually the pain will subside, and just remember that he isn't suffering. God will take care of him. I am sorry for your loss. I know what it is like to lose a pet and it kow how hard it can be to put it behind you. I still miss Lucky but I have his memory to comfort me. Good luck.

I am sorry to hear about your loss. Each day your heart will hurt a little less. If you can't seem to get over this heartache then maybe you need to talk to a counselor for a little while. This new puppy is not with you to replace your loss but to be with you as you continue on with your journey in life.

where do you live? Do you have a picture of the dog? I doubt you'll ever find it again, but!...... you could put up signs with detailed info about your dog in your area or find a website where you could post for a lost dog just to see if anyone's heard anything.

Its hard to lose a dog. People who haven't had one have a hard time understanding how much they can affect a persons life. They are like children to their owners. I wish there was something I could say to help you with your grief. Just remember he's someplace better now and not feeling any pain or hunger.

i lost a dog that i loved several years ago, and it broke my heart also.nothing has really replaced that loss, but my hopes are that she connected to another family that loved her as well as ours did while we had her. we have 2 dogs now, that we love very much, but we still fondly remember our "salley" dog. know that other people have gone through a loss such as yours, and don't be too sad....remember, all dogs go to heaven.
