My daughter gets blond highlights and it sets off her red hair beautifully. It makes it glowy.

I like golden-blond highlights in red hair. They look like the sun favored you with grace and adorned you with kisses from the heavens.
(I'm also a bit of a romantic, so if you're not....this probably isn't the highlights for you.)

Red Headed Highlight Options:
1) Different Shades of Red
2) Darker Shades of Blonde
3) Combo of light blonde, brown and streaks of darker red
*The shades of your highlights depend on the darkness or lightness on your red hair. Red hair is the more various shade of hair of all hair colors.

I would say blond and/or auburn. Brown too, but I would check with a hairstylist because there are so many different types of browns out there. Black and Green would be good if it was temporary for a trendy look

Black or anything darker would be low lights. Golden or copper highlights.
