a program car. The car salesman represented it as almost new. AFTER I purchased it, he told me that it only had one key with one remote, but that he would look for the other ones. A couple of days later I called to ask him about the key and he said it only came with one. Of course, the manual said it came with 3. I went back to the dealership to get my floor mats and radio antenna, which he hadn't given me at the purchase and asked for the other keys. He said they didn't have them. I probably would not have bought this car had he told me this up front. Do you think the dealership owes me the other keys? Also, the key number was not on this one. It is very expensive to have other keys made, and I would be in real trouble if I lost this one key. Of course, the car salesman told me he only made $100 on the sale, etc. Thanks in advance.

That sales persons behavior would be absolutely UNACCEPTABLE, at a reputable dealership.

Call & talk (nicely) to the General Sales Manager.

If that doesn't work, ask to talk to the General Manager.

And finally (if you don't have the keys & remotes in your hands with a very sincere appology ) talk to the Owner of the Dealership.

Stupid behavior like that is what gives car sales people a bad reputation & this is exactly the opposite of sales people like myself.

If my suggestion doesn't get you an appology from dealership personel.....AND all the items & equipment that you are entitled to......please give me the names & phone numbers.

Yes, they owe you the two other keys AND the second remote. Talk to the sales manager first, if they cannot help you, talk to the general manager, after that take it to the dealer principal/owner. If nothing happens after this, call the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-800-331-4331. This number will connect to a representative that should open up a customer case to that dealership's Customer Relations Manager, who should establish contact with you within 3 business days and a conclusion to the customer case should occur within 15 days. Hope this helps. In the end you were on the unfortunate end of a bad salesman who may not be at that dealership to long, especially if you had to come back to get your radio antenna and floor mats, which should have been on and in the car when you took delivery. Hopefully, you should receive a survey from from Toyota in the mail or e-mail and asking you to rate your experience at the dealership regarding your purchase, write EVERYTHING that went right AND wrong. Trust me, it will be flagged by Toyota and the dealership will have no choice, but to handle the situation, because if the salesperson and dealership are rewarded money based on their CSI score. A bad CSI score can disqualify the entire dealership from things that Toyota gives. Again, hope this helps.

Regardless of whether this was a 'program' car or not, they have to provide the things that they promised you. You would be well advised to take a meeting with the dealer principal (that's the man or woman who owns the dealership). You should explain everything to them and tell them that you are not satisfied with the way that the salesperson handled you problems. Ask him/her if it is dealership policy to supply more than one key. You could also tell her/him that you would not have bought at that dealership, as you stated here, if you knew that you'd be treated so poorly. Lastly, I'd recommend that you send a letter to the dealership, carbon-copy it to the regional representative for Toyota and maybe even carbon-copy to your lawyer. They'll see that you are lodging your complaint officially, even if you don't plan to file suit.

If the salesman told you that he only made $100 on the sale, then he was lying to your face. All of the things you said you are missing should have been given to you on the date of sale. The dealership does owe you. I would go back and talk to the manager.

You should definately speak with the head manager and figure out why he is selling material missing parts and a set of two keys. That is the most ridiculous dealership and you are entitled to more than just the extra keys, demand something free for all the trouble they are putting you through.

Keys cost like 1.00 at a department or hardware store. If you need anew remote they might cost around 100.00. I would try and get them to give you another remote. Unfortunately, once you left the dealership with the car, the deal was sealed. Unless you have it in writing about the remotes and keys there is nothing you can force them to do.

What the heck does the car salesman's commission have to do with you getting what you paid for? I'd contact the management of the dealership and get your keys. In the future always get what you are supposed to get from car dealerships. They are notorious for lying and changing their stories. I bet you that the car was repo'd and not a program car.

Well, I would request that they give you the additional keys. When I bought mine new it came with 2 keys...one with the black plastic thing and one just plain. Also, there is no way he only made $100.00 on the sale...salesmen always act like they are giving up all their commisions to help you out.

I would say if he told you that he owed you the other keys, than to pursue it. It's the principal of the matter. Threaten legal issues and report to the BBB if they don't comply.
