Do you think hydrogen peroxide is suited for children over 6 years old as mouthwash? If it is, how do i dilute it into water? My son is suffering from halitosis and he has no cavity either.

His halitosis could be coming from his adenoids, so if this is persistant even after brushing, he should be seen by a pediatric dentist and checked out. Sometimes it's the ph balance, and your dentist can recommend how to make the appropriate changes.

The peroxide destroys cells, so I would not recommend it as a standard course of treatment for anyone, especially not a young child under 12. It is difficult under 12 for them to not ingest some of the liquid because their control over their muscles is still developing.

You do need to dilute the hydrogen peroxide (according to my dentist) and have him rinse with it once a day. You could also try baking soda as that does wonders for cleaning teeth. He shouldn't be having halitosis though - check for a sinus infection or some other cause for the bad breath.

Diluted listerine is far better than peroxide. Peroxide can cause an infection to fester, and can cause small burns in sensative mouths.

Try parsley instead. It's more natural but is a good cure for bad breath. And I'm telling you this as a hater of parsley, so trust me on this.

They have dentist recommended CHILDREN mouthwashes out there and your son shoudl use one of those. Talk to your dentist about his breath, it may be something deeper than needing mouthwash.

It's already diluted. It should be safe as long as he doesn't drink it.
