I am 20 years old. I am 5'4" and 90 lbs. I have NEVER weighed more than 95lbs. I am currently at 90 and the lowest I've ever weighed was 84 when I was 19. I do not have an eating problem. I LOVE FOOD. I eat all of the time but I can't seem to gain weight. I also have TERRIBLE hormone problems. I don't know if they both go hand in hand but my husband is in the Army and I would love for him to come home to a more shapely woman. I am tired of walking around in size 0 pants that I have to wear a belt with. IT SUCKS. Please any help is appreciated.

You mentioned you have hormone problems... have you been to an endocrinologist? They specilaize in hormone disorders, and would be the type of doctor I would see if I knew I had hormone problems.

I dont mean to belittle your problem- I am empathetic, and certainly have known thin people who were not thrilled about being thin- but you must not be too hard on yourself. Your husband is your husband because he is attracted to you, and loves you. Be happy with who you are, and make the most of what you have. Many of us who are heavier would love to be thinner, and I think for everyone, the grass is always greener on the other side, you know. Wether skinny, fat, full figured, tall short, average, curly hair or straight- so many of us waste time wishing we were something other than what we are, rather than enjoying who we are and what we have.

My aunt is 5'8" at 117 lbs. She is always eating, I mean there are donuts AND chips on the table every time I visit (I am at the other end, trying to keep the pounds off, so visiting is torture! lol). She has a hard time keeping her weight up also. The only thing that ever helped her gain a few pounds and keep them is......prenatal pills if you can believe it....her Dr. prescribed them and she was able to go to 122 and stay there and without having to try to gain the weight. She was sooo happy she was showing off how her jeans could stay up now with her booty and everything....she's so goofy, I love her.

See if your Dr. will let you try this out....if nothing else it will make your nails and hair grow strong, can't hurt to try. Good Luck.

I'm about 5'3" and i've always weighed around 80-90 (since age 18) until i got married. when i was 20 i probably only weighed 80lbs, and i was having horrible period cramps. You might need to go to a doctor though because it seems that you could have a thyroid problem.

All I can say is we're all made different. When I read your question I thought " Wow, I wish I had that problem" But I realize I have problems keeping weight off and it has to be just as frustrating to you to not be able to put it on. Maybe we just need to except who we are and be happy. Easier said than done, huh? Good luck. I'm sure your husband will be happy to see you and you don't have to worry about being "more shapely"

first of all if anyone says something rude, shame on them. i teach my kids that we don't say "fat" AND we don't say "skinny" cause it hurts just as much to hear people say you're skinny over and over just as much as (i would guess) it would hurt an overweight person to hear "fat" so much.

my suggestion is to get some Ensure and drink it with each lunch. don't go overboard and try to drink 2 or 3 a day, just make some small changes to add more calories. another good source of calories and "healthy fat" is almonds. a small handful every once in a while might help out a bit too. best of luck and bless your husband for serving.

Yeah, you should go to the doctor. Seriously. There might be something wrong with you. If you have to wear size 0 WITH a belt, then you must be literally as skinny as a pole! But really, go see a doctot as soon as possible.

i know a lady that has the same problem

she gained some weight and turned it into muscle, she's heavier but still not shapely....only a little more than she was

the way she did it was she changed the Atkins Diet around a little.
she added potatoes, carrots and bread to every serving and she walked every day, to convert the carbs into muscle
