Would you spend the entire time text messaging other people?

No. Being invited to any dinner party means you entire presence is wanted by the host. By "entire presence" I mean your thoughts and attention are at the event, and not somewhere else. If you REALLY have to check your mobile and send a few messages, then ask to be excused from the table and do so somewhere discrete. Otherwise, you may risk offending your host by paying attention to your mobile instead of the people at the party.

If it starts to get boring, try listening in and being part of table conversations. Unless someone at the table is called out to speak, talking is expected at that sort of gathering.

No. I'd turn my phone off. If Windsor Castle isn't a place to be fully alert and aware of my surroundings then where is? I can text later after I leave.

Yeah, I'd be texting the unfortunate ones who weren't invited telling them everything I've seen and what's being said and everything. I'd probably be bored to death anyway so I'd hide my Pink Razr under the tablecloth and text away!

Usually I text the Queen, but since she's sitting right next to me I just politely ask her to pass the pepper.
