It's a "resort" in Algonquin Park but instead of a main building they rent out individual cottages. The main building has the dining room and the front desk. The place is called Killarney Lodge and it is located almost exactly half way between the East and West Gates of Algonquin Park on the Highway 60 corridor. Their website is:

I'm from around Parry Sound and there are a lot of places to buy a cottage there! We're called "Cottage Country" There are many lakes around Parry Sound to have a lake on. For example : Georgian Bay, Lake Rosseau, Six Mile Lake, Clear Lake,Oastler Lake , Little Whitefish Lake.
For a cottage near a place to shop - Georgian Bay is right by Parry Sound, Lake Rosseau is near Rosseau and its a really nice place to shop there are lots of little shops to go to ( little bit expensive though) Clear Lake is near Bracebridge which is also an excellent place to go shopping ! There are also many places around that aren't on the water. ( All the places I listed above are all near Parry Sound- in Muskoka)

Well there are many I can recommend in my area which is not far from Sudbury and most are very close to Espanola Ontario.... all of these sites include maps so you can see where it is....
Agnew Lake Lodge... http://www.agnewlakelodge.com/
My personal favorite East Bull Lake, I lived there for a while and it is beautiful although a little out of the way in Massey, On.

Lang Lake Resort.... http://www.langlakeresort.com/home.htm
Mountain Cove Lodge.... http://www.mountaincovelodge.net/
LaCloche Lake Camp.... http://www.laclochelakecamp.com/
Lake Apsey Resort.... http://www.cottagesandfishing.com/
All of these places offer privacy and absolutely gorgeous scenery most are within a 15-30 minute drive from the nearest town some a little more but it is worth the drive.... I hope you pick one of these places and I hope you have a wonderful trip!!

I've always loved Muskoka. It is really so beautiful up there. Try these web pages:
www.visitmuskoka.com
www.cottageproperties.net
www.portcarlingboats.com/Accomodation.htm
It's only about 2 - 3 hours north of Toronto and you'll find plenty of shopping in Perry Sound or Bracebridge. There are also plenty of artists that have studios and galleries in the area. It really is a wonderful place!
Good luck.

I am not sure if you'll like it because it isn't close to a huge mall or anything, but I like Kincardine. It's small, and close-knit, but they have a Scottish band that marches every Saturday night, right down main street to the water. It's peaceful and beautiful, and it's always fun to take a trip to the ice cream parlor before retiring to the cabins. It's more relaxed & can be quite romantic.
