If you go to puppyfind.com you can find a dog that matches your preferances. It is a place to buy dogs, but I used it to figure out the size of the dog and how much grooming and walking it needs. It will tell you all the information you need to know. Then you can go and buy the dog where ever once you find which one you like best.

let see, my family always kept three dogs one for each kid. Chows are good. We had a mutt, we saved from a awful neighbors. A springer Spaniel, a pug, and a newest edition is a caviler king Charles spaniel. The females are are less dominate. Pure breeds rule mutts. They know automatically who is who.

Australian shepherds are really good with kids...
My family consists of an australian, a rottweiler and a pit along with my husband and 2 kids...I notice that the pit is too rough when playing with the children (she just gets too rambunctious which scares my daughter)..the rott is hot and cold when it comes to dealing with the kids-he goes and finds a quiet place by himself when his tolerance level is low (but he is ALWAYS very protective of them), the australian is the most consistantly good natured.

I think mixed breeds are the best dogs. We always had a mix and they were always cute, fun, very loving and affectionate.
