If you live where there are public libraries, go to the library and speak with a Reference or Childrens' Librarian. Make sure that you are speaking to a Librarian, not a clerk. They do not wear labels :-) but the librarian is paid to help you find answers. The clerks are paid to make sure you find what you are looking for.Don't leave until you have your question answered! Keep going back for more information and reading material.

Start reading age appropriate English language childrens' books to your child. Even if you are not so good in English. You will both learn at the same time. Childrens books are great for helping kids learn to read, speak, and understand any language. They don't look at it as something that they must do, but as something they love and want to do.

Your child and any others will learn. Give them time and enough social activities with English speaking children and they will learn very fast. Make sure they do attend formal education, as well.

Again, you did not say if you are and English speaking person trying to have a toddler learn in an English speaking home. If you want them to learn English in a non-English speaking home, then you have to expose the child to good English. Again, try the library. Even the TV in English helps, learn Engish along with the child. At the same time remember your native language. Be sure the child learns, not only to speak the native language, but its spelling, grammer and other important parts . Without that, it is like having a child literate in English and illiterate in the Native Language, even though they learned to speak and understand at home.

The Jump Start computer program is an excellent tool that offers programs in english, math and a variety of other subjects. A fun and interactive program that is used in many schools is the Reader Rabbit series.

A program that I used for my nephew was a Dr. Seus computer program. He loved it. Hope this helps.
