It is Shamnesty
I agree that their will be fall out--from many groups.
But we can secure the borders easy enough. Some one was right who posted we spend more on police in New York in one year than it would cost to protect the borders.
Amnesty-groups on waiting list are protesting highly now. It has to be fair to them too.
How it will go we can only guess. But I don't believe it will be win -win. Some will be disappointed and there will be backlash. Too bad if laws were followed to begin with this wouldn't happen-and now some innocent will be hurt.
I don't think full Amnesty will happen. I do believe they will do some border control (not as much as some want).
We could do more.
Border control
Not impossible at all, nor as costly as some think.
"The marines did a little (exercise) just North of Idaho. One Hundred marines with three drones and two radar stations controlled 100 miles of the most rugged border you ever saw in your life. While I was there, just one week-end while I was there, they intercepted four people coming across on ATVs carrying four hundred pounds of drugs, we got a light plane trying to come in under the radar, and so it can happen. We can control our borders, we just choose not too."
If we properly staff our border patrols, build a wall, use sensors, remote controlled drones, and radar stations, we can slow the raging flood of illegal aliens coming over our border down to a trickle. It's not "impossible," in fact, it probably wouldn't even be all that difficult, we just haven't made the effort.

You already knew about the entitlement programs – the earned income tax credits and child credits ($24.5 billion), the Medicare and Medicaid benefits ($15.4 billion), the Social Security benefits ($5.2 billion), the food stamps and child nutrition programs ($3.7 billion). You just didn't know how much those programs would cost you. Now you do.
We bet you didn't know about the program to reduce rural poverty in Mexico. That's going to cost $18 million, apparently to be distributed to U.S. and Mexican universities. Yeah, that's going to be effective.
Then there's the $2 million annually to "assist Mexico in improving security at its southern border with Guatemala and Belize." After all, it is a comprehensive program.
So-called passport cards required to travel to Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda (in lieu of a passport) would cost $270 million. That's because only $34 would be charged to the individual, but the card would cost $40 to process at the State Department. You get to pay for the shortfall. Requiring the new card means you have to make sure folks know about it, but that will merely cost an additional $50 million.
It's going to cost $200 million over five years just to cover the administrative costs of a provision that would allow individuals "to block and unblock inquiries on their Social Security number," whatever that means.

Mr. Stomp posted this yesterday....I agree with his view that Congress will have to come to a win-win on the immigration issue. Cost of a full deportation is exorbitant and the fallout may be worse yet.
