If you wanna tell if someone is lying. Ask them the question again, a couple days later, usually people will forget what they said. And if you ask them again and they have to think about it, they are probably trying to remember what they said. If it is the truth, they wont have to think about it.

Ask a person "Are you speaking the truth?" and watch his eyes when he answers the question. If his eyes shift to the left, he's a liar. I read about this in a book about the Silva Mind Control Method.

the look left and down during a lie, its eerie how often that is accurate, also scratching or touching of there face, avoiding eye contact
but the looking left thing Ive found to be a good indicator - take into account peoples gestures also

Fidgeting, refusing to look you in the eye, over explaining, and watching you too hard for a reaction are clear signs of a lie in progress.

Ask them to repeat the story later on. Too many details. Gut instinct, If you think their lying they probably are.

People will often touch their face and the higher they do that - rubbing brow, forehead the bigger the lie is likely to be.
Fidgeting, lack of eye contact etc.
