It's a cultural thing. For example, people using "like" in every statement. Once something a phrase or word catches on, people use it incessantly and it becomes irritating. By the way, i'm one of those rare people who says "anyway" not "anyways", though I try not to use "anyway" unless it's necessary.

My highly educated and otherwise intelligent husband misuses this word in every day speech, not with the attitude, just plain old misuse. At least he used to until our seven year old corrected him on it.
I associate this word with inner city northeasterners. I can hardly read it without hearing the Brooklyn accent.
My particular pet peeve is "ir-regardless". A double negative in one word, that is actually not a word.

uh i don't know, but anyways why does it matter? i'm just kiddin, but usually when ppl say that with an attitude they tryin to cut ur conversation or whatever your doin short becuz they're annoyed with u.
but i say anyways sometimes but not in a rude way just tryin to brighten the subject. and i say ax instead of ask and i say tenny shoes instead of tennis shoes and i say airdress instead of address but i can correct myself easily and i know when i should use those words and shouldn't use those words.

Why do people say "I seen it", with or without an attitude?

I can't speak for everyone.. and I don't really say anyways with an attitude.. but I do say anyways. I've never actually heard someone say anyway instead of anyways.. so idk.

Uneducated idiots, mostly. Same folks who say "ax" instead of "ask" and "I could care less" when they mean "I couldn't care less," oh and "expecially" *(that one really makes me cringe).
They're just dumb bunnies. Smile, feel real superior and walk away before they try to throw their poo at you.

That's American way....like they say "I don't do nothing" instead of "I don't do anything"
It's wrong but people use it for too long and it become a right word.
I guess.
