How come you can't get sweet iced tea in Texas ?
Every place we eat I'd ask for sweet iced tea and was looked at like I was crazy.

You can, it just depends on the place you go. Grandy's has it as well as Texas Roadhouse. Call before you go.
As a long time waitress, I can tell you this is why-in the restaurant business, a lot of customers look for anything to gripe about. One is my tea has too much sugar, not enough sugar, its not like mama used to make, etc. So they just let people put their own sugar in to taste. What they dont get is that it doesnt taste the same if the sugar is put in cold tea. You have to put it in the hot tea and then ice it for it to taste right. Oh well. I guess you have to trade the great tea for the awful heat.
PS I live outside of Ft Worth.

It's just like salt on your meat and vegetables...some people like a lot, some like a little, and some like none at all. Serving it unsalted or unsweetened allows you to have it to your liking. Plus - you may be a diabetic and like it sweet, but you have to use an artificial sweetener instead of sugar.

But then again, perhaps they don't know what it is. Believe it or not, I asked for Iced Coffee not too long ago at an Applebee's in Wisconsin. The waitress gave me a blank look, then asked me what that was. When I explained it was coffee with ice cubes in it (duhhhhh....but wait...are you ready for this?....), she brought it to me in a CUP. I had to send it back to be put in a glass.

Well...in delaware we call it sweetened or unsweetened iced tea. I had never hear the term "sweet tea" until I moved to Kentucky. So maybe its because they just don't know the term.

I've seen a lot of places like that. Usually, they ask if you want it sweet or non-sweetened. Besides that, people in Texas do everything different.

Can't get here in the North either, it is reserved for TN, MS, AL, GA, NC, SC, and maybe KY. That's about it. I wonder why people drink sweet stuff anyway?
