well it all depends on the derby you are wanting to run

say an old iron class- you would want 70-76 gm, 60-late 70s mopar, or suiside door lincolns, most demos have banned the imperial and are comming soon for the suicide door lincoln 60-69

say you are in a 80 and newer class - chevy 9 times out of 10 go down and the humps blow out, diplamats are tough but the firewall is weak, the 79-91 fords (same body style cant tell the diffrence in them once gutted) are the heaviest frame, and the stronged body

say you are in a compact i have seen many things good and bad its hard to say thus goes for trucks and minivans

Don't overlook some smaller cars like Volvo 240s, Chevy Cavaliers. Most derbies require that you hit someone every 60-90 seconds. With a larger car you often have to ram dead cars to get to the fresh ones, needlessly killing your car. Smaller cars can be very nimble and dodge the dead cars.

mid 70's Chevy Impala or Dodge Royal Monaco. Those types of cars seem to always do well at the demo derbies I've seen.

The best cars for derbys we've found are the big 'ol mother honkin' station wagons. They take a lickin' and come back tickin
