First of all who said it was normal? If it was your care Provider then trust them. I am not a medical expert but I have had children and been attacked by "advice" that was not always correct. Stress can cause shortness of breath, the baby is not having this because it doesn't actually take breaths in the womb. It can be caused by many things, none of which are serious, I had that at the end of my first pregnancy from swelling, and extra weight. My daughter had it because she was anemic, we are all fine so I wouldn't worry unless your Doctor tells you to.

It's OK, I did the same thing when I was pregnant. I actually had to stop singing in the church choir because I couldn't get a deep enough breath to sing. Your baby is fine, getting plenty of oxygen through you. Just be prepared it could get a little worse before the end of your pregnancy. But the good news is that when the baby drops, before you go into labor, the shortness of breath should get better. Try to stay calm, I found if I got worked up about it, it always seemed worse than it was. Good luck!

You baby doesn't breathe; his lungs do not function and are filled with amniotic fluid. If fact, his pulmonary circuit isn't even fully functional due to the ductus arteriosus, which allows blood to bypass the lungs. Instead, fetal blood has a greater affinity for oxygen than your blood, so as long as your oxygen intake is sufficient for you to live normally, your baby will be able to extract oxygen from you through the umbilical cord and placenta. (FYI your blood and the baby's blood doesn't mix!)

It is normal for you to be having SOB when you are pregnant. Your abdomen is full and there is less room in there for your lungs to expand. If you are not feeling dizzy, faint, tingly,..then everything is probably OK. But if you are having any unusual symptoms you should contact your physician right away. If the oxygen in your blood supply is low this would effect the baby too, but I think you would be feeling very ill if it got low enough to harm your child.

The best thing to do when experiencing shortness of breath is to rest on your left side. You doctor should have told you this, shame on him/her! It most likely is caused by the baby putting pressure on your lungs.

Wow...a baby breathing fluid huh? That's so wrong, I'm actually laughing. Ah, good one, but, anyway, the baby is not breathing fluid or air for that matter, it is getting its oxygen from the mother.

No, your baby is breathing just normal. He is pushing up into your rib cage so that's why you have shortness of breath. But, by making yourself take deeper breaths, your baby gets more air, so you're actually helping him.

If your doc says that you're fine, believe them. Rest more. Being preg puts a huge strain on your whole body. Congrats on your new family member!

no, your baby is resting comfortably in the womb. he is perfectly fine. most of what he is breathing in is amniotic fluid anyway..totally normal. don't worry. you have shortness of breath because your uterus is pushing up against all your organs. normal. don't be alarmed or too concerned.
