My favorite kind of dogs are Labs. We just had a yellow Lab that passed away at almost 14 years old. My wife has always wanted a Daschund but I was against them saying that I wanted a "real" dog. After our lab died my son found a Daschund for sale not too far from our home so we went to check it out. I said I didn't care one way or the other so we got our little mini. I have to say that he even won me over. He's a great little dog (though a little yappy and not yet house broken). I'm not sorry we got him.

Personally I think they are kind of ugly. I also don't like that they have so many health problems. I prefer dogs that have a bit more "bite". Not aggressive dogs but ones that are a little more active than daschunds. I have a Jack Russell Terrier. All dogs are wonderful in their own way so I like them all:)

Everybody loves Daschunds!! Did you ever see the classic picture of a small one on a large hot dog bun? (Italian bread loaf, cut down center) So cute!!

My mom has three, and I would love one of my own. I have a one-year-old, and daschund's backs are too delicate for the possible rough play. Maybe when he's older.

I Love daschunds... they are very nice dogs. They are also very intelligent and sociable. My family has a miniature daschund named oscar.. and I adore him! They are the perfect size to sit in your lap and love their owners

Everything you said is so true but you did forget one thing about them, they are so very loyal too.
I've never owned one but I have always wanted to have at least one but with my fat black cat who thinks she runs the household here I will have to wait for awhile before getting one.
Don't take me wrong, I love my cat dearly and I'm in no hurry for her to leave me either. She's been with me for over 12 years and I'd love her to be with me for another 12 years but when I can I just might get a wonderful Daschund and hope he/she will be just as wonderful as my fat black cat is to me now.

I think that they are adorible but I would never get one because of all the problems they get like back problems and by 6yrs old the dog would have raked up ALOT of vet bills.

My family had had them since ever! And they all had the same names, but followed by I, II, etc :) That's tradition.
I love how good pets they are, they quiet and don't bother at all, also they're small and don't eat that much. They're good for people who have small places too.

I love them. They like to burrow under the covers of your bed and sleep on your feet. Great dogs! I had mini long haired. Loved them.
