Welcome back! It's been a little while since I've seen a question from you. In my opinion Brewster and Byrd will never fight in a competitive fight, they have sparred against each other in the past, but I would hardly consider that fighting. I believe that Brewster still has some fights left in him but Byrd, Byrd is done, his reflexes that helped him through his bouts that he was out weighed sometimes by 50 pounds are gone. Byrd was never known as a big puncher and relied mostly on his boxing ability. There were times when every heavyweight out there wanted to avoid getting in the ring with Byrd, he just had a way to make a very good fighter look very ordinary and best. If this fight absolutely had to happen which I don't think it ever will, Brewster would knock Byrd out. Byrd has had enough, his chin is gone and his skills are diminishing rapidly (just take a look at his last fight) and Brewster still has maybe 5 or 6 tough fights left in him. Byrd should retire, he has a great family behind him and he has some investments outside of boxing. I hope to never see him in the ring again. Thanks Ric for another great question and giving ne the opportunity to give my opinion.

It's an interesting question, dude. You obviously know your boxing. It's not a very exciting matchup, but I'd have to go with Byrd. I never liked him when he started campaigning at heavyweight, but he proved me wrong. Cute former middleweight with no significant power, but he won a legitimate portion of the title and held it. Only heavyweight out there that ducks no one, and actually goes after fights with bigger guys that everyone else is avoiding - Ibeabuchi, Tua, both Klitschkos - and it's not out of the question that he can regain a portion of the title. I think he has too many tactical skills for Brewster.
Will he and Brewster fight? Doubtful. What's the incentive? There's other competition out there that isn't family.
