I had an open MRI for my back. It was a painless experience. It actually felt good to lie down for 45 minutes without anyone needing me to do something. I had headphones on and was able to select the type of music I wanted to listen to. I was in the room alone when I was getting the MRI. The operator was behind a window. She would talk to me through a speaker and occasionally ask how I was doing. The MRI "machine" does make knocking noises but they were not very disturbing to me. I didn't feel any sensations at all. It really wasn't bad.

depending on what part of the body you are having the MRI done on is how long you will be in the tube.
But on the norm, you lay down on a flat, hard bench, the technician will position you the way that you need to be laying (also depends on what you are having looked at), then you will slowly start going into this little machine. You will lay perfectly still and hear little weird noises and pinging sounds. After the tech is done then he brings you back out and your finished.
MRI's are no big deal UNLESS you are claustrophobic like I am.
First time they put me in one of those machines I freaked out, and started banging on the sides hollering let me out, I was hyperventilating and just totally could not handle being in that tube.
So anyway, Now the doctor just gives me a xanax tablet approx 20 minutes before the MRI and I go in, sleep/relax until time to come out of the machine......lol

Not much. You simply lay on a movable table and they position your body in certain ways to make the best images and then you are made to lay really still. It doesn't take long at all but if you keep moving then they have to retake the image so the more still you are the faster it will go. I assure you there is nothing to be afraid of, it's just like laying in bed but in and MRI. Best wishes

Holding still is the hardest part. If they are doing a brain scan, they may tape your head in place. that doesn't hurt - it is just weird.
They may give you an injection, or have you drink something - or not. Depends on what they are looking at and what they are looking for.
Tell them if you have any allergies before you drink anything or get an injection - a tiny percentage of people --who are allergic to shellfish, i think -- react badly to the injection. It just gave me a stuffy nose!
You lie in the position they put you in, 45 minutes or less.
You don't have to DO anything. You may be a little more comfortable if you ask for something to go under your knees.
As medical tests go, it's a breeze.

Get ready for about 30 to 45 mins. of noise, the one I went to let you pick what music you could listen too. But still the sound of the MRI was louder than the music..And it vibrates a little..

Nothing painful, nothing scary. You lie on your back and are given earplugs because the machine makes weird loud noses. Then you slide into a long tube and just lie there while the device scans whatever it is they're looking at. It takes a while - figure on at least 30 minutes - it's boring and you might even fall asleep. Then you slide out and Bob's your uncle! It's over!

If I remember correctly you have to go without eating and then they give you this Chalky tasting drink. Then you lay on the Bed that move you in and out of the Donut. Then you feel a little sick after-wards from the Chalky drink. But, it nothing big and really not last long, just boring.

You have to lie very still and the machine you are in is very noisy. The last time I was in one for my knee, the technition told me to stay still. In the machine, I thought I was doing well, but the guy came over the microphone and said I was moving too much. It was difficult for me to stay even more still when I thought I already was! It is painless and important for you to remove all metal off your body (even the wire from your bra).

You just lie down and listen to music while construction type noises pounds away. You will slowly be moved into the machine. It's painless.
