Hi, I have a 141/2 month old little girl. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for some different snacks or meals? It seems as if I fix her the same few things. She isnt really a picky eater we seem to eat a lot of chicken nuggets, she loves broccoli, and bananas. TI seems like we just eat the standards: gram crackers, yogurt, grilled cheeses etc. What do ya'll feed your kids? I dont have a lot of time to fix home cooked meals all the time (who does right)! Thanks for any ideas that you come up with.

I don't like feeding my son too much junk... but I also don't have time to prepare a gormet meal. Here's what I always keep on hand.

Frozen bags of broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, green beans, brussel sprouts, peas. Just mix a bit of each in a bowl and microwave for a few minutes. Makes great finger foods.
Frozen waffles or pancakes.
Peanut butter & jelly. Always a hit... but a bit of a mess to serve!
Blocks of cheddar cheese.
Cheerios - regualr, honeynut, apples & cin.
Peppridge farm goldfish crackers - cheese, and pretzel flavors
Veggie crackers
Fruit yogurts (I like stonyfields).
Raw fruits (especially blueberries) as well as fruit cups... and some pudding cups. Bananas are great (but can cause constipation if baby eats too much).

I also like to make hummus and keep it in the fridge. My son absolutely loves it on pita bread, and it's so easy to make. Very healthy for you too.

What about leftovers from the night before... just add some boiled water and mash it up for a quick snack or meal.

And finally.... I always keep a few jars of Stage 3 foods and Gerber graduates for those days you don't feel like making or preparing anything. It's so easy... and worth the money (especially if you stock up when there's a sale).

If your baby is eating whatever you're serving, I wouldn't worry. They'll let you know when they've had enough of the same thing. I would however try to get the right amount of nutrients into them... preferably through the proper foods. Don't always give yogurt to substitute for meat.

When you do cook... cook in large portions and freeze. Meatballs & sauce freeze really well, as does home made soup. I always have both in the freezer.

You don't need a "diet plan" All you might need is a healthier lifestyle. First off start by managing your calories. Instead of eating huge fatty 1000 calorie meals you can snack on healthy things that will hold you over longer than all the sugar you could be getting. Try things like fruits and veggies. Whole grain crakers with peanutbutter or a small slice of cheese is also good. Eating breakfast is also another key thing to do. By eating a healthy breakfast you won't be hungry the rest of the day and looking for food. I've tried "Special K Protien Meal Bars" they definately hold you over and you aren't hungry for a lot longer. Three weeks is definately not enough to loose 30 pounds. But it's somewhere to start. Getting in shape feels wonderful. You should start doing exerczes to burn some fat and calories that can be replaced by muscle. Doing this you might not actually loose the WEIGGHT because muscle is heavier that fat but you'll look so much better. Pilaties is one GREAT thing you can do to get in shape. I play Field Hockey year round and I do track. One thing that we do to keep us in Shape is hard core Pilates. It's going to be hard at first but you will notice extreme difference in your belly, butt and thighs in days. The best ones you can do are The Hundred, planks, Single Straight legged stretch, the bicycle . . You can find all of these on Youtube. Stick with it. Just eat right and keep track of your calories. DO NOT try not eating. That won't help you loose anything. Getting in shape takes dedication. Anyone can do it. Don't give up girl (=

I have a great and VERY EASY ziti recipe that my 17-month-old loves. You don't even have to boil the ziti and it literally takes 5 minutes to throw the ingredients together. By the way, my little guy really loves ABC soup if you need to add some veggies along with the grilled cheese. Here's the recipe:

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Bake Time: 60 minutes
Serves: 8

1 26 oz jar pasta sauce
1 1/2 cups water
15 oz ricotta
1/4 cup grated parmesan
2 cups shredded mozzerella
8 oz uncooked ziti

Preheat oven to 400 F.
Combine sauce and water.
Stir in ricotta, parmesan, and 1 cup mozzerella.
Add uncooked ziti.
Spoon ziti mixture into 13x9" baking dish.
Cover with foil and bake 55 minutes.
Remove foil and sprinkle with remaining mozzerella.
Bake uncovered for 5 minutes.

I have a 1 and 2 year old.

For snacks I have given them

cheese slices, Kraft also has the Cheese cubes that my boys think they are great and beef sausage from Hillshire Farms.

Also, pancakes are a good snack. You can make a bunch ahead of time and they freeze really well. Just toss them in the microwave to warm them up for a quick snack.

My son is 20 months old and I feel like he eats the same old same old quite a bit. Sounds like you give your daughter a pretty good variety including fruits and veggies. My son is not into veggies that much but loves fruit. We try to buy snacks from the health food section of our grocery store. I also buy Barilla pasta in the yellow box because it is higher in protein. We give him Boca or Quorn chick'n nuggets (we're vegetarians), string cheese, grapes (cut up of course) blueberries, we keep canned peaches and pears on hand just to switch it up a bit. Grilled cheese, mac and cheese, P B & J, cheese sandwiches with mayo, and sometimes before bed I will make him a milkshake with bananas, a squirt of choclate syrup, and a couple of teaspoons of peanut butter. He loves them!

My 21m daughter is extremely picky. Here's some stuff she will eat- Cheerios, baby goldfish crackers, blueberries, strawberries, frozen waffles, peanut butter on toast, string cheese, etc. Don't sweat it if she's only eating certain things. As long as she's healthy, that's all that matters.

i have a 12 month old who is kind of picky too. WIC gives us dried beans so I gave her some pinto beans and she LOVES them. its cheap and very healthy. the only hard part is that you have to soak them for several hours before cooking them, but if you cook a lot at once its really not that much work. they also have these frozen chicken cordon bleus sold at the store that she loves, you just pop it in the oven. you could also try giving her chicken noodle soup.
