Pass on the Mitsubishi. Scion xb if you are going to mod the thing. Honda- do you want practicality or sport? Civic is you are practical, Fit if you like to be a little racy.

2006 Honda Civic is Car of the Year (Motor Trend Magazine). The Civic SI has 197hp and a six speed manual tranny. The fit is ok but too small for my likes. The scion xb is ugly (according to most people i talk to)The scion Tc is much better looking than the xa or xb, and mitsubishis are not built as well or as reliable as hondas or toyotas. The mitsubushi lancer is the only one that has all-wheel drive, but all wheel drive cars suffer from understeer (they do no turn well at moderate to high speeds)

I like the styling of the Honda Fit even though the Civic gets better gas mileage for more money.

Eclipse is a quickly motor vehicle. Eclipse is a robust looking motor vehicle. Eclipse is a motor vehicle that doesn't lose its touch. Eclipse is a secure motor vehicle. Eclipse has suited coping with. Mitsubishi now! P.s Civic is crap, my brother drove 1998 one.

Civic looks real good inside out. Performance will not lose out due to it's i-VTEC.
Fit is abit old in design although it is much more versatile then the rest. Can modify till it doesn't look like a Fit.

I would still prefer FIT.

a honda civic or the scion xb
a hybrid is about using less fossil fuel, being better for the economy, not about being the cheapest option at this point.

Depends - what's your criteria for choosing a car?

Lowest purchase price? (see manufacturer's MSRP)
Lowest insurance rate? (ask your insurance agent)
Lowest cost of ownership? (see the TCO at edmunds.com )
Best fuel economy? (see fueleconomy.gov)
Lowest emissions? (see epa.gov/greenvehicle )
Easiest to purchase/shortest wait?
One that'll get you a date?
One that you can fit yourself into? Or your entire family?
Easiest to pronounce?
Easiest to draw?
More/less popular vehicle by sales? (I want to stand out/I want to blend in)

TCO of hybrids is typically lower than other vehicles. (Consumer reports actually had to print a retraction on their hybrid analysis that gas/tax savings will make more than the initial purchase price premium, but of course it's in small print hiding in a later issue...) Latest reports show that it will pay off over time. http://www.cnn.com/2006/AUTOS/08/22/bc.autos.hybrids.reut/index.html It's also not a fair question - no one asks if it costs more/gets your money back for buying a diesel or a v4/v6/v8 or a manual/automatic transmission, or adding a sunroof/CD/navigation... so why ask it about a hybrid drivetrain?
