I've been contemplating but a 9month old goldren retriever from a friend who has to sell theirs. She is 9months and not yet spade. Is she too old for this to occur? I don't plan on breeding & don't want a PMSing dog around my house. Is 9months too old?

no she is the right age now . we spay both dogs and cats from the age of 6 months to 12 years. it is best if you do it before they come into their first heat. every time they have a heat cycle they have a greater chance of breast cancer later in life plus you do not want unwanted puppies.

I just got my two dogs done last year. One was 3 and the other was 12. The 12 year old needed it because she was getting ill. They are both totally fine now and the vet said nothing about age being an issue apart from the anaesthatic for the older dog.

9 months is fine.

No, one of my dogs was 4 years old when I got her from the pound and she had just been spade. Vets recommend doing it before the puppy first goes into heat but is never to late to do it.

They Spay and Nueter dogs left and right when they are found on the streets. Homeless dogs can come in as young as puppys and as old as 12 years old. They still get nuetered and Spayed. Some Vets actually think it is healthier.

She is still a puppy at nine months, dogs are considered adults at 1 - 2 years old. So she's not too old, do it.

The earlier the better I believe is the common thinking on spaying. 9 months isn't too late at all!

Why would she be too old at nine months? By all means have her spayed. It is never too old unless they have some major health problems.

As long as she is not in active heat, you can have her spayed. My friend spayed her female at 10 due to breast cancer. . .she caught it before it spread and now my dog's mom is 13!
