Ask a research librarian to locate the kinds of books that describe the various behind the scene responsibilities. You can also begin with a Google search: Film making support staff careers. Unions are involved with most of the behind the scene work. You can get registered with an extras agency - Google it. If you have acting/singing talent local stage productions are all over the place. If there is a School for Clowns there is a school for every aspect of entertainment. Late 40's is too late for some careers but you need to research that. You need to get into the field as a volunteer, etc.

as with every challenge or dream achievement there will be money lost interior the initiating. climate that's for coaching, traveling to an audition, or studio time. there's a gaining understanding of curve with each and each marketplace, attempt to make some buddies interior the occupation you opt to make stronger in. some could say you have chose a undeniable look or character to be an actor or musician, i don't have self assurance this to be real. as long as you adore and are committed to what you do, it is going to coach on your artwork. i'm 30 years previous and many times think of approximately writing books or songs, there is an artist in all human beings. in case you have 0 appearing experience maybe try appearing at a interior of sight theater in a play, for little to no money. you will p.c.. up multiple strategies from regulars, i could choose for hands on experience over college courses any day. understand that that's never too previous due, you have chose a "failure isn't an decision" mentality or you hazard quitting earlier the achievement comes.

i can't help but think they need people to carry things around, "behind the scenes". a man, in his forties, in fair physical condition, could probably get in there, though the competition might be fierce; everybody wants to be in pictures (and cetera). i further suspect this requires little training. good luck... i guess.
