I think technically American Airlines is the largest air carrier in terms of number of flights and passengers flown in a year. However, Air France does business in the most countries worldwide.

so far, everyone is wrong- It is Lufthansa German airlines. They are biggest from a revenue perspective, and it is debateable whether they are biggest from a passengers flown count as that data is not actually reliable due to code share flights and interline tickets.

AA still codeshare w/ other airlines..
Same w/ all the airlines, they're partner.. So sometimes you can buy a AA tkt and operate by Japan Airline..
or UA tkt .. and operate by Lufthansa...
It's all about the partnership...

United or Delta for sure...they are everywhere and tend to have the most flights...unless there's one that I don't know about...
