Ray Nagin has been re-elected as the mayor of New Orleans. A recent statement he has made is one that states, why are Americans so quick in sending aid($$) in the rebuilding of the twin towers but are not as quick to sending aid($$) to New Orleans. Last night, on Fox News(www.foxnews.com), there was an argument about how Ray Nagin always has a "fancy" for turning certain situations into a subject of racism. (white vs. black), However, he didn't say white people, he said Americans.?? So, what are your views on this matter?

NO! Where is the concern for the Citizens of Florida (Alabama, Mississippi) who survived WORSE Hurricane Damage than New Orleans, went through MORE THAN ONE Hurricane since 2004 -- and ARE STILL rebuilding their community -- all withOUT the media attention that Ray Nagin seems to get?

I think the people of New Orleans will reap what the sow. They voted this racist, incompetent crook back into office and now they have to live with it.

Ray Nagin is out for Ray Nagin. He plays the race card because he knows that it goes straight to the heart of his constituents.

As a businessman, he couldn't run a hotdog stand. This evident with the choices he is making in Katrina's aftermath. It is costing New Orleans to get rid of the wrecked cars, a Texas company offered to pay New Orleans $100 per car and haul them off. Rays plan is costing New Orleans over $200 per car and they are still there. This is just one example.

Where is the billions of federal dollars already sent Ray? How much has made it to you and your cronies pockets? When are the people of New Orleans going to start coming first? When is it going to stop being the federal governments fault and YOU start getting something done, Ray?

These are questions the people of New Orleans should be asking.

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, in short, is a dope.
Here's a guy who is as clueless as he is classless.

His distasteful "chocolate city" remark was odious (see link #1).
His most recent comment on the World Trade Center is out and out shocking (see link #2).

Has this man no sense?
No decency?
No tact or diplomacy?

Look, the people who re-elected this idiot got exactly what they deserved.

Now, to be fair, the federal response to Hurricane Katrina was (and still is) deplorable.
But ANY emergency on a local level starts with the local authorities, then state authorities and then federal.

Nagin and his merry band of bozos actually had a disaster drill a few weeks before the hurricane.
And when the real deal hit, they were as clueless as a room full of 1st grade school kids.

Are his comments racist?
Well, let me ask you this: following a hypothetical category F5 tornado, if the mayor of Springfield, Missouri (a white guy) were to say that Springfield was a "snow white city" before the disaster, wouldn't YOU think his statement was racist?
Be honest.
I would.

If you want to support substandard elected officals, that's your business.
Me...I want to find people who will take on responsibility and action, NOT pass blame and whine.

I think Ray Nagin is the primary reason New Orleans has not been rebuilt. They have received more aid than all other cities hit by Level 3 hurricanes put together, yet hey have shown the least progress in rebuilding. What is different? Local government is the only answer I can find.

Mayoral politics is a local issue. If he represents the views of his constituents I really don't have a problem with that.
Would you think if fair if half of the country were attacking your mayor if you supported him?
I don't live in New Orleans, thankfully.

Its easy for people, from behind their PCs, to engage in this level of name calling.

I find it curious that the former mayor of NY actually did more and said more than Nagin, but he continues to enjoy wide support.

I think he is an idiot......if he had gotten the people out of NO like he should have.....this disaster wouldn't have been as bad. It takes time to rebuild any city after a disaster, but at the same time I think people are fed up with taking care of people who seem to want to abuse the system, and have proven time after time that that is what they are going to do.
