Just be aware that in her parents or grandparents day, it was considered to be bad luck for the couple if someone showed up in black, that person would have been the black cloud at the wedding. It used to be a statement that you did not approve of the union, you were in mourning because of it.
When in doubt, ask the bride. If she is horrified, find another dress.
I think it is fine, and especially if you accessorize in a color. People have weddings were everyone dresses in black all the time.

It isn't EVER is poor taste to wear a black sleeveless dress as long as it fits well, looks good on you and doesn't make you look sexier than the bride. The colorful scarf is also a great idea for a great accessory.

No I think that would be really cute. I just went to a wedding last weekend and wore a black dress with a pink polka dotted sash around the waist. You should get a clutch and some shoes to match your scarf! That would be very cute.

As long as you're not family or in the bridal party, and you accessorize with other colours, sure why not. Depends on when the wedding is and the reception afterwards. After six weddings often require more formal gowns and cocktail dresses.

I'm wearing a black sleeveless to my nephews wedding next Friday night. It's at 6pm at a winery. I wore it last year to wedding at a country club and other women were wearing black also. My budget doesn't allow for me to buy something new whenever I have a formal occasion to go to, ........so go for it and don't worry about what others there might say or think.

Nope it is perfectly acceptable.
Black makes a great canvas for any accessories that take your fancy. As you are adding a brightly coloured scarf, you could find jewellry and a bag to compliment eachother. You could also accent the coloured scarf with hair jewels etc.
Black looks great for all occassions and it is also great for showing off lovely tanned legs!!

I was just at a huge wedding (outdoors) and I saw many women in black cocktail dresses - it's quite appropriate. The fact you are adding some color is even better.

A sleeveless dress might be offensive if it is a strict religious ceremony or in a particularly strict church, in which case you should ask advice from the bride/groom. If it's just a typical ceremony you should be fine.

It's not poor taste at all but I might go with a more jubiliant color, but what you had in mind is totally ok. (If it's summer and the wedding is outdoors I'd pick another color, because black attracts heat, which attracts sweat, which attract stink!!)

No, actually black is very elegant.
I just attended my nieces wedding and all of the brides maids and groomsmen were in black with teal accessories. It was beautiful.
