That would depend on which of the six regions we are talking about. If it is "highland" then I would say Macallan If "Speyside" I would say Balvenie 21 year portwood if "lowland" Auchentoshan 3 wood If "western Highland" the Dalwhinnie if "Island" then Talisker 18 year and finally if it is "Islay" then it would be Bruichladdich 14 year Links.

Famous Grouse hands down. I was in Edinburgh and went to a "Scotch Store" they had like 300 different brands there, single malts, double malts etc... some of the other good ones were named
Pigs nose, smooth and soft as a pigs nose..
Sheep dip, smooth and had a woody taste to it
I spent about 2 hours sampling them and I was hammered and could barely walk out of the store with my purchases...

I like a scotch and ginger ale on the rocks. I don't discriminate between the brands except that I favor the ones on sale!

I wish I could say that Macallan is my favorite, but favorite implies that I would buy it and drink it regularly and it's just tooooo expensive for that. I can get 10 bottles of 'good' scotch for the price of one Macallans.
That in mind, I'd say Laphroaig.

Thusfar, Glenmorangie 12 year, matured in sherry wood.
Laphroaig 10 year comes in second...still acquiring the taste of the intense peat.
*the Scots spell "whisky" without the 'e'
