There is only one reason to age a wine, and that is for it to improve by maturing. The trick is to open it before it passes its peak and goes downhill.

You do not give a details of the winery or even where the wine was made.

However 99% of all wines are not meant for aging and a ready to drink. Basically the less you pay the sooner you should drink.

This wine is now 3 years old and I reckon ( without having any more details) that you should drink it sooner than later.

It depends on the techniques and ingredients that the winemaker used when making the wine. The best thing is to check with the winery on the bottle's label and see what they recommend.
