The original meaning of a Monday morning quarterback refers to a person who sees a football game on Sunday, and then tells you what they would have done (after they have all the info the team didn't have), and as if they are qualified like the professional or college quarterbacks. It's very close to the saying "Hindsight is 20/20" Best Answer, 10 points.

It's similar to twenty-twenty hindsight. Most Pro football games are played on the weekend. On Monday morning, it doesn't take a genius to figure what the quarterbacks should have done, if only they'd have known about the consequences of their poor decisions.

It is a metaphor that came from people who watch football Sunday, then on Monday have all the answerer's like "I would have done this" or "why didn't he do that?". To say somebody is being a Monday Morning QB means that hindsight is 20/20 and that if they were in the same situation they would have had no idea what to do.

After the game is over, they know what the quarterback should have done to win the game in American football. Games are usually played on Sunday. It could also apply to business that people know what should have been done and give out with opinions.

The original meaning-you watch a game on Sunday afternoon. Then at work Monday morning you say "I would have run this play or put this player in" etc. However, the phrase now means anyone who isn't part of something that wants to comment on how things SHOULD be done-ex. "I would make sure we don't loose this account" or "I wouldn't have hired him", etc.
