What if other major factors in his/her life have changed positively? In other words, he or she is in a much better place in their life and has a better understanding of his/her self-worth and value. For example, back then, no real job, no real goals, just living. Now, great career, hanging out with a different group, has got a lot more going for him/her. Do you think that has any affect on trying to rebuild a past relationship?

It's possible if the guilt and regret go deep enough and they don't make excuses for what they did.

But just remember if the relationship goes sour, it could happen again. Times and circumstances change all the time. Just because something isn't going the way anyone wants is no excuse to cheat.

Once someone cheats the easier it is to do again if conditions are right. It's a character flaw that never really disappears. The owner of such a flaw must always remain conscious of that fact and hold it in check constantly.

The issue of trust is a hard one to mend.

when a person cheats on another person, they are well aware that they are cheating. and apparently when the thought of cheating on you passed through their mind, they didn't care. think about that..

never go back out with a person who cheated on you...but you should fart on his face.

personally i prefer one shot deals, i don't believe in second chances especially if the reason was because the other person was cheating. however the decision is entirely up to you. at this point i would say try to get to know him better. try to evaluate him objectively...because it's obvious ur still interested in him since your asking these questions. don't go back out with him so quickly but be willing to become better friends and then see how it goes from there.

Yes I do believe. My boyfriend has cheated on his ex and used to get into a little trouble once in a while. Now he lives with me and we have a kid together and he dosn't go anywhere and he has been with me for over a year. I do think that people can change.

If you are asking for yourself.....then you are the only one who can answer that. If you are asking for someone else.......I would not even want to take a chance on that. I believe once a cheater, always a cheater. They are like alcoholics and drug addicts......it hangs in the shadows for the rest of your life!

Everyone is capable of cheating... there are no gaurantees in fidelity. Date for a while... give it time to see if he/she has really changed. If they are not open to that idea then they probably haven't changed.

Probably not. It's not worth the time and effort to find out.

It is possible. All of us have the capability to change the bad in us, all we have to do is to commit doing it.
