To try and make your community better and give back to other people. Think about the nursing homes. When my kids go back to school I will be volunteer there and read to them or take them for walks. I worked in nursing homes for many years. There are people who are 100 yrs old who have absolutely know body comes to visit them. Think about what they gave to the community and all they want is somebody to come and sit with them and listen to there stories or just spend some time with them so they are not lonely. I would want somebody to do the same for me if I was in that position. Wouldn't you. Know body wants to die alone.

there are a lot of good reasons to volunteer in community service, it is a way of helping your community with the poor and needy, it gives them the help they need and me, I get experience in what ever help I am are doing, it is tax deductable, it gives me a great feeling and a proud feeling. It is a part of sharing your talent from your heart. and best of all it teaches young children to serve in the community by volunteering. and it makes God happy too.

So you can give back to your community, meet new people, discover interests that you didn't know you had, have more experience in a certain field.
It also looks great on a college and job application!

It may or may not be useful, but it's a LOT better than gambling, watching soap operas or engaging in ritualistic activities like fantasy baseball leagues, in my most humble opinion . . . .
