Why do kids answer these questions? They can't spell or have no idea about the topic.
You can eat corn fresh (raw) but cooking breaks down the starch molecules and makes them easier to digest. You can grill corn, husk on or off, boil it, or roast it in an oven. Don't microwave it. It cooks unevenly. I prefer boiled 5-7 minutes with some sugar added to the water. My family used to add butter (margarine) to the water, ughh. Too greasy for me, I prefer eating corn plain.

Your mom taught you to "prepare" it fresh/raw? Corn is delicious, but it's hard enough to digest it cooked - eating raw corn would "shock and awe" your whole digestive system I would think. Guess your system is used to it, but you are ingesting all the chemicals, pesticides, poisons and toxins that are sprayed on the corn as well. Long terms risks would be great I suspect.
I suggest you boil or grill it - stay safe and enjoy it the way it's meant to be.

In the first place Corn on the Cob shouldn't be cooked. You bring a pot of water to a boil put your corn in the pot and turn the heat off.

There is really no harm in eating raw corn, as long as you wash it good. But do be careful, if you eat too much raw corn, you will be visiting the bathroom excessively. Just make sure you have lots of tissue on hand.

corn is perfectly edible raw, just wash it and check for worms/rot ect. I love the flavor of cooked corn, especially grilled with a little butter

If that's what you like, go for it. I would try AL's cooking method though-you may have always had it overcooked. Another good way is wrap in plastic wrap and microwave 30 seconds.
