Both my girlfriend and I are 18. We've been dating for a year. Whenever we go out for dinner, our bill always ends up in the $30-$40 range. We're only 18, and I have a pretty steady income, but I do want to save money because I'm not going to work when I go to college. My girlfriend does offer to pay for some of it, but I feel bad taking it because its her parents money, not hers, and I'm against people going out on dates on their parents' dime. Should I just let her pay and don't worry about it, going against what i believe? Or do you think that were spending too much on dinner as it is?

I think it's nice that she's offering to help pay. Woman's lib and every thing. I think you should lighten up a little and take the offer. Cause she is probably feeling bad you your always paying the bill.

wow, that's rare you find a guy willing to buy dinner all the time. Glad to see some virtues survived. As for your girlfriend, there is nothing wrong letting her pay once in a while. Yeah, it may be her parent's money, BUT that's what they are giving it to her for.

There are cheaper places to eat out, but when you boil it all down..it's all expensive. Can you cook at your house? Or, maybe offer to cook at her house for her family? If you don't know how to cook, buy the groceries for the meal and ask for a lesson from her mom. That will rate high on her scale because you're actually willing to learn. Talk about brownie points. LOL. Well, at least it would impress ME. My late husband was a good cook. He hated my cooking, so he cooked the meals. lol.

Find different places to eat....cook for her at your house...pack sandwiches and go on a picnic....its nice she offers to pay and if you feel bad taking it then don't. But if your aim is to save money then you have to be willing to make some sacrifices.....

It is cool she is offering to pay, but that is the guy's responsibility. Try eating at home, a home cooked meal is better.
