I think that is hard to find out if you live in the US where there aren't many Muslims. The few that I've met were hard working and very family oriented. I did google it and found Muslim relief organizations and charitable organizations. It looked as though they send their contributions overseas. A small percentage of them have been targeted by the US government on the suspicion that they are funding the terrorists. I think the idea that most of us have is that they are not good people but I doubt that. Except for the extremists, they have many religious tenets that are similar if not the same as the Jews and the Christians. After all, it is an Abrahamic religion. Supposedly, it is the second largest religion in the world and the fastest growing.

Dear Don S,

I am from Turkey. Even though I am not a Muslim and do not agree with the way so many, especially, fundementalists muslims live, I have to admit that there are tons of very good hearted, civilized, secular muslims in Turkey.

I hear the point you are trying to make, but please remember that not every muslims are the same nor every jew. There are muslims who would love and respect you just because who you are as a human being and they would not even care whether or not you are a jew, christian, budhist, atheist or whatever.

We are here to help the world to be a better place, so please let be positive and try not to burn the blanket (muslims) because of a flea (fundementalis) landed on it.

A fact:"While six million Jews were being exterminated by the Nazis, the rescue of some 15,000 Turkish Jews from France, and even of some 100,000 Jews from Eastern Europe might well be considered as relatively insignificant in comparison. It was, however, very significant to the people who were rescued, and above all it showed that, as had been the case for more than five centuries, Turks and Jews continued to help each other in times of great crises."

Love,

Celal

You have only to look to an American back yard. Muslims give as much if not more when people are in need. Not to mention any other group that is religious.
Are Christians the only group that helps other people?
It is like saying America is the only country that helps the world.
Everyone knows Jesus of Nazareth. A man who spoke of peace and tolerance. Concepts no Christian nation has ever followed.
Money is far more important to this capitalistic world. Any faith beyond the tangible most times takes a back seat.

Ignorance forgive
First, as a rule Muslims do not tell or announce what good deed they do because it is for God not PR.
They have contributed to many disasters in the world through out the years. They have never differentiated between any religions because it is for God,
I pray that one day people would stop being ignorant, research on line and find out everything they need to know about Muslims.
Know that there is the good and the bad in every human of every religion, so get off your high horse and think.
Ask or email the UN, UNICEF etc....

the bible does not teach that it is obligatory to bath, islam did.The early christian church made it similar to those who bath as those of the whores in the bathhouses or brothels, so the more one avoids bathing, the more saintly one becomes. To bath is to remove sins.
the early church condemns the practice of medicine that became the forerunners of the modern medicine.islam did.
the numerals we use now are arabic in origin, islam tolerated.
the oils the world used are mostly from muslim countries.islam accommodations.
to know Jesus is a messenger of God, not another polytheist God, islam did
to terrorize the world, no religious group of any sort should be blamed. The real terrorist are from the non religious sector who wants to dominate the world and use a strong major religion only as a scapegoat or coverup so they would be harder to catch. If only the wiccans have the oil fields and gaining adherents in droves, surely, this terrorist would posed themselves as wiccans or witches.Look what the early church did to them, drowned or burned in millions this none violent kind of people and uses the bible to justify the slaughter. What crimes or sins have this wonderful people did, having another deity, use herbs as a better form of eradicating diseases other than spiritual healing the church allowed, have the ability to foresee or see what other people can not, have physical charms and beauty that captivates the heart of authorities who were not able to secure them that angered them?
Where in the bible says that man should not kill but protect this earth, the environment? Nowhere!
In the quran and the traditons of the prophet, there are many commandments that man should not kill the environment, many practices that preserve nature at its best. The best is, when a muslim dies, royalty or pauper,he/she is wrapped only with cloth, burial is within 24 hours, no embalming, poisoning the soil or air with the chemical, no wake up to a week to wait for concerned people to give respect, waste of energy and time, cremation is not allowed, waste of fuel......no casket, waste of material.
There are lots more contributions muslims did for the good of this world.

Uhm. Muslims do the same things for the good of the world that all people do. Or do you expect to see it on the news every time that a muslim helps someone out? That would be pretty absurd.

It may come as a shock to you, but being a good person has nothing to do with being a christian or a muslim or anything else.

Everything must be in the balance. The presence of Muslim was meant to put Christianity in check and vice versa.

Think about this: Both Christian and Muslim committed atrocity in the past and in the present. Both are fanatic to their faith. Both don't sincerely like each other because of the perceived differences in their faith. Both practice love outwardly while opposing one another inwardly. It's like trying to mix oil with water. It is not surprising to hear you say nothing comes out good from Muslim brothers especially now terrorists are mostly Muslim fanatics targeting non-Christian territories. In my country, fanatics would say the only good Muslim is a dead Muslim because of bad experiences they with the Muslim rebels.

You see religion, while it preaches peace and love are the root cause of war because each religion wanted their own term of peace.

Muslims contribute to the world just as much as Christians or anyone else. Muslims give Charity. It is one of the 5 pillars of Islam to give to charity. It is a religious obligation to give 2.5% of your wealth every year to Charity. Muslims help with the morale of the world. Islam tells its followers not to practice adultery or fornication, which in turn helps lessen the amount of pregnant females living without their babies fathers. It cuts down the amount of HIV/Aids. And single women raising children on their own. Right after Hurricane Katrina, the mosque near my house got over 70 people together to go down to the Lousiana/New Orleans area to help clean up! They also raised over $90,000 to donate. And to your question asking whether they would help out a Christian, of course. In Islam if you save a human life, you receive the reward as if you have saved all of humanity. Likewise is you take someones life you recieve the sin/punishment as if you had killed all of humanity. Thats how much Islam values life. It doesn't matter what religion, cukture, or gender you are, Islam values life. I am so sick and tired of people judging Islam based on what a couple of people in Iraq are doing.

Ask the same questions for people of other religions. Not all muslims are the same..I know some personally and they are hard working, loving, committed people who care and love themselves, their families, and the community. They are humans just as we are, and just because they happen to be muslim is that a bad thing?

Ummm, your basic premise is faulty. Christians don't "help" people either. Americans do. Christians pretend to help people in an attempt to convert them, gain control over them, and take their money to support their hierarchy and missions. First world Democracies and wealthy people help others, because they can. Muslim countries are all third world theocracies and dictatorships, similar to corrupt Catholic countries, they don't do anything except threaten their lessors and beg from their superiors.
