Nothing you can do.
If he needs you he'll know where you are, but you can't make him stop.

A buddy like that needs help. Why not give him some and have fun doing it.
When he passes out, take off all his clothes and dress him in a dress. Leave him on a park bench.
Another time, take off all his clothes, and leave outside.
Or, prop him up against a pole with a dildo in his hand.
Make him look silly, he'll get the point eventually.
My friends have a rule, first guy to pass out is fair game!

Well you should try to talk to him when he is SOBER first. Talk to him about your concerns about his drinking, and see if he recognizes a problem himself. If he knows he gets out of hand with his drinking, then ask him if he wants your help. This is not an easy path you may be choosing. If you know his family sometimes they are willing to help as well. He may be alcoholic, or maybe he is drinking to hide some deep emotions that he is trying to cope with. Either way if he is a good friend and you want to help, talk to him about this when your both sober.

Since he doesn't know when to quit, it probably means he is not ready to quit. All you can do is to continue to be there for him. You can continue to love a person even when you don't approve of what he or she is doing. That's true friendship. Just make sure he doesn't try to get you to drink as much as he does!

sounds like your buddy needs help.
I do not know how old he is, but nevertheless, this is not safe drinking. If he is underage, it is actually a crime for anyone to give him alcohol. It would be easier if you had specified his age.
I have always wanted to perform one experiment.
I would like to get permission from a person who overindulges to videotape them.
perhaps more people who saw their progression into alcoholism would seek help.
people who overindulge sometimes do not realize how truly pathetic they appear.
If you really like your buddy, you should tell all of his family and freinds to intervene before your friend ruins the rest of his life.

I have a feeling he'll keep drinking even if you do walk away, so the 2 options you listed are a moot point...any other choices for us?

Help him as much as you can but know when it's too much for you. Don't enable him by driving for him or anything, but make sure he can't drive either. It's hard to stand by and see someone you like kill themselves slowly with booze.

Talk to him about it when he is sober. If he's your friend you should try to help him, or try to get someone else to.
