When the ACLU started it had noble principles but they have gone on too long and have to keep their organization in the news so it won't defunct. They do that by latching onto every unpopular situation that comes up and fighting against the majority.
They fight long to protect one single person while taking the rights away from millions.
What a group!

I stand with the ACLU. And no I don't always agree with them. It does bother me that I will never be able to go to my kids school and see a Christmas Program like my parents did when I was in elementary school in the '60 and '70's.
The ACLU will probably bother all of us at one time or another, but they do stand for something very good.
Most of the folks who hate the ACLU are my fellow Christians. And I have to ask why they have to have their religion in every single aspect of our lives. Aren't we allowed a break every now and then. Religion should be a part of each person's private life and not imposed in public forums.
I experienced shool prayer growing up in Tennessee and it was just a bunch of little kids reciting the Lord's Prayer. Eventually such things become a rote routine without the meaning they should have. And of course the ACLU is determined that one groups religion not dominate everyone else's. And of course this is the real rub, because it is the Evangelicals doing all the complaining. What if Catholics succeeded in getting their version in the public schools, or how about the Jewish or Muslim Faiths, or how about Jehovah Witnesses getting their way or Mormons??
The ACLU would be there to keep them at bay as well. So love 'em or hate 'em they are doing their best to preserve the Bill of Rights that some of us hold so very dear.

1. Satan is a fairytale character
2. I doubt you even know the first thing about communism
3. They just want you to keep prayer where it belongs - in church or at home NOT IN THE SCHOOLS OR THE WORKPLACE.
4. No one is trying to "ban christmas" - again JUST NO RELIGIOUS EXPRESSION ON PUBLIC PROPERTY
5. The ACLU's purpose is"to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States". Other defendants than the ones you cited are the right of a Christian church to run anti-Santa ads on Boston subways, the right to religious expression by jurors, and the right of Christian students to distribute religious literature in school.

It's amazing how people can attack an organization that seeks to protect civil liberties and the Constitution. You don't hate the ACLU because they are trying to push an Atheist "agenda" on the country, you hate them because they are actually trying to uphold the separation of church and state that is codified in the very first clause of the very first amendment to the Constitution;
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"

The ACLU is one of the few things stopping people in power from infringing on the rights of ordinary citizens. It's only the ignorant who want to erode our rights and burn the Constitution in the name of "morals" and "security." The Constitution exists for a reason, and the ACLU exists for a reason -- to protect the Constitution. If you are against the ACLU, you are against what our country stands for -- civil rights and liberty.

Like Kermit, I don't always agree with the ACLU, but I will stand up for the need for their existence. The kind of issues in which I will agree with the ACLU's position is most generally in the areas of the criminal justice system. Somebody needs to protect the rights of people accused of crime and the ACLU is very well situated to accomplish that. Much of the rest of their pursuits I disagree with, such as the separation of church and state crap, and various kinds of "unenumerated rights" such as abortion and "sodomy," and the "equal rights" of people in circumstances that are not about race. Indeed, it might be the case that I disagree with the ACLU more often than I agree with them. But this country still needs them.

The ACLU is not synonymous with Satan, nor are they communists. They are true to their mission. . .defending the America's civil liberties against demagogues & those that want to erode civil liberties for whatever reason. They do take on unpopular cases. . .and thank God for that! If they didn't, we'd really be in trouble. I don't see any far-right wingers filling that void. . .nor do I see them trying to preserve civil liberties.

the ACLU is one of Americas greatest treats. they used to be a worthy organization, but now they are just a bunch of money hungry lawyers, sure they will do a pro bono once in a while to keep up appearances. keep in mind the devil has many disguises
I trust any lawyer as far as I can throw them.

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of God plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.
Love and blessings

If your ignorance wasn't so tragic, it would be funny.
The ACLU has the sole purpose of defending the constitution and making sure that the government follows the rules.
It's easy to say that suspected criminals shouldn't have any rights, as long as you're not the one being charged. It's easy to say that public schools and govt agencies should be able to promote religion, as long as it's your religion that happens to be in the majority.
Sadly, you don't seem to have the first clue about either the values that American was founded upon, or those who defend them. And that would be amusing if it weren't so tragic.
