Yep it certainly can. It can cause all sorts of nasty problems including severe earache. I had two impacted wisdom teeth that had to be removed, the roots on one of them was actually growing lenthways into the jawbone. If yours is impacted (an x-ray should confirm it) then the only option is extraction. If there's space at the back they'll come through ok but it's a discomfort anyway. Teething usually is.

Wisdom Teeth Sore Throat

I have something that I'm not sure if it is my wisdoms or not. I have a dentist appointment in a week and a half to look at that. Suddenly out of no where tonight I an ear ache, itchy throat and pretty much blocked up nose. The stuffy nose doesnt seem like it would connect to wisdoms at all, but could the wisdom teeth effect my throat, which would then effect my ears?
i've gotten a winter cold pretty much every year around the same time since I was in middle school. I am now 23. It always presents the same way; dry itchy throat, then dry cough, stuffy nose and flemmy cough, then clears up. Always the exact same way, same order of phases. Last for about 2 weeks.
This "cold" is coming on much faster than that. All phases at once. Could this be my wisdom teeth effecting my throat then my throat effecting my ears? The only thing that wouldnt really link to it is the stuffy nose. That's why I'm asking.

An impacted wisdom tooth can cause a sore throat. I had one so bad that it caused my whole throat and mouth to swell up. It's from an infection trapped above your not-yet-erupted wisdom tooth.

It could be infected by the tooth cutting through the gums. This infrected secretion may be irritating your throat.

Absolutely! The tooth (root) may be infected. Not unusual. My son just had his first one removed, kept putting it off. Recommend see your dentist right away. He will prescribe anti-biotics if there is infection. Get it checked-will not get better. Find out now, rather than wait to see if this clears up.

Possibly if there is an infection ( abcess)
Go see a dentist they will X-ray and see if there is an abecess.
if so an antibiotic will fix it and then the wisdom should be extracted.
