Hello, i need serious answers here. If you're gonna joke about it i would ask you to rather skip this question.

There's something that i do not understand and i need an explanation from fellow Christians.

How come you say that Jesus died for your sins, yet you ask God for forgiveness when you sin and fear His punishment during judgement day? I don't understand, can you explain please? Thanks

I think nobody has understood my question. OK I will ask it in another way: If Jesus died for your sins, so therefore every Christian goes to heaven according to this. However, when Christians sin today, they still fear Jesus and ask for his forgiveness so that they won't go to hell. How come? Doesn't this contradict the first ideology? Please explain.

Jesus is God, God is Jesus. God is also the Father and the Holy Spirit. The One that came to die for our sins was Jesus, who is also God. So God is forgiving your sins whether it be Jesus or God the Father. You do not say, God the Father, forgive me, or God Jesus forgive me, do you? Jesus is God so He can forgive sin.

Jesus died so that our sins may be forgiven when we ask. You have to remember, not everyone is a Christian so there are some out there who don't care, or know. And for those of us who do; well let's put it simply like this: you can't just walk through life committing any sin you please and excpect things to be cool because Jesus died for your sins; that would defeat the purpose of the ten commandments and any other laws and statutes. What we do in our lives is still partly free will, granted God will know what we will do way before we make a decision, but it's up to us to ask for the forgiveness. Jesus died so that that option was available; without it the only option would be death with no chance of going to Heaven. And i'm sure you're wondering about the people who died before Jesus; well that's why there was that whole system of sacrifice or offerings. To show that they were truly repentant, they had to give up something they liked, endeared, or were proud of like when offering up a lamb; which is why Jesus is sometimes reffered to as The Lamb of God. So even though God didn't have anything to atone for, He gave up something He loved for our sins which was Jesus. And even in these days, even though we don't have to offer up the best portion of our crops, or a lamb, we still must sacrifice some things to do what's right. It's just that now it's more of mental sacrifice; we have to give up our carnal, human, and sometimes very natural urges to keep God's word.

We receive salvation when we confess our sinfulness to God and accept the forgiveness which comes to us through faith in Jesus. Jesus paid the penalty of death for sin in our place. When this happens God not only forgives but also forgets our past sins.
Becoming a Christian doesn't make us perfect, we will still sin from time to time. We confess those sins to God, not so that we can be saved - that has already happened - but so that we can receive Gods forgiveness and grace as a process to making us more like Jesus. Christian discipleship is the process of becoming more Christ-like.
God's judgement has no fear for the Christian. God will see us clothed in the righteousness of Jesus and accept us into his full and eternal presence. However, the Christian's discipleship will be examined at the Judgement Seat of Christ (Romans 5:10) and, if our discipleship has been true, we will receive our reward (Paul called this a prize or crown).
So, if you are a Christian, be confident - you are a child of God through Jesus and he will never let you go!
See 1Corinthians 3:10-15

First , for Christians, we do not have to fear judgement and punishment on judgement day as there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus. If we accept His sacrifice and follow Him- there is nothing we have to fear as far as punishment goes.

secondly, the fact that jesus died for our sins, does not give us license to sin. Continuing in sin with the attitude that Jesus paid for it all and god forgives is really a slap in the face to what He did , it is disrespectful and is not a right heart attitude.
Jesus freed us from the bondage of sin. His walk was an example, we do our best to follow in the perfect instruction of god, doing what Christ has called us to do and having a proper heart attitude. We fail sometimes, we fall, we get discouraged, but if we repent- turn away from the sin and call out to Jesus, He is faithful to answer and forgive. There are times when we will still have to deal with the physical consequences of our actions- that is discipline and training, but God's grace makes it possible for us to regain fellowship with Him.

Good question. Simple answer: God forgives us in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus does not forgive us for our sins; God does. It is through Jesus that we can have God's forgiveness.

Some passages:

Mark 11:25 says that God the Father forgives our trespasses or sins

I John 2:1, 2 Jesus is our Advocate with the Father (we only need an advocate for the one who is to judge). Also, we get the big word "propitiation" for our sins, which is kind of like saying he paid for our sins. (This is from New King James Version of the Bible. others, like NIV, use the phrase "atoning sacrifice")

When the earth is judged, it will be God doing so. Revelation chapter 16 records the prophecy of the bowls of wrath, which is the pouring out of God's wrath, or judgment, on the world

It is God who will sit on the Great White Throne and judge the dead (Revelation 20:11-15)

There are more, but I hope this is sufficient to answer your question. If not, post again, and we'll see what we can do for you.

EDIT:

Ok. I just read the additional details. We continue to ask for forgiveness for a variety of reasons.

So that we can have fellowship with God. When sin is in our lives, it blocks fellowship with God. Jesus tells us to ask for forgiveness in Matthew 12:9-13 (The Lord's Prayer).

So that our reward in heaven will not be lessened

So that we have a clear conscience

So that sin does not overtake our lives and lead us astray

So that we can serve God and Christ fully

True, Jesus died for everyone's sins once and for all. Jesus died for your sins too. He paid the price for all the world's sins; not just Christians.

You are made righteous with God, when you believe and trust in Jesus and what He did for you

Seeking forgiveness is a sorrowful, regretful, remorseful, attitude of your heart. You don't have to ask God to go to the cross again. When Christians sin, they need to agree with God that what they have done is wrong, and then turn away from their sin.

Also, when Christians sin, they need to seek forgiveness from the people that they have hurt.

FIRST OF ALL, JESUS DID NOT DIE FOR OUR SINS. HE DIED SO THAT ALL OUR SINS COULD BE "FORGIVEN" BY HIS FATHER. BEFORE THE GREAT FLOOD THOSE PEOPLE WERE LIVING IN BIG SIN, AND NOT OBEYING GOD. HE HAD ALLOWED THEM TO LIVE MANY YEARS HOPING THEY WOULD STOP LIVING IN SIN. THEY DIDN'T, SO HE INSTRUCTED HIS FAITHFUL SERVANT, NOAH, TO BUILD AN ARK, THEN HE DROWNED ALL THE SINNERS THAT WERE LEFT. GOD STARTED A NEW RACE OF PEOPLE AND HE WAS GETTING MAD CAUSE THEY WERE HEADING IN THE SAME DIRECTION.THIS TIME HE SENT HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON TO SAVE THE PEOPLE FROM DESTROYING THEMSELVES. JESUS UNDERSTOOD THE MENTALITY OF THE PEOPLE OF THAT ERA, THAT'S WHY HE BEGGED GOD, "FORGIVE THEM FATHER FOR THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO". THE PEOPLE DID NOT KNOW THEY WERE LIVING IN SIN, SO JESUS HAD BEEN THERE TO INSTRUCT THEM AS TO WHY THEY SHOULD FEAR GOD THE ALMIGHTY. GOD STILL FORGIVES US EVEN NOW BECAUSE IT IS A RUNNING REQUEST MADE BY JESUS, TILL THE END OF TIME. THE DAY THAT IS YOUR TIME TO END YOUR LIFE HERE ON EARTH IS THE DAY GOD WILL REVIEW YOUR ENTIRE LIFE AND SEE IF YOU ARE WORTHY OF ENTERING HIS KINKDOM. HE WILL PASS JUDGEMENT ON YOU AND DECIDE IF YOU SHOULD BE CAST INTO THE DEPTHS OF THE DEVIL'S REALM, OR ALLOW YOU INTO HEAVEN. EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE SINNED IN YOUR LIFETIME, IF YOU ASKED GOD TO FORGIVE YOU, EVEN AT THE ELEVENTH HOUR, HE WILL, SO LONG AS YOU REPENT AND DECLARE THAT JESUS IS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOUR. TO FEAR GOD IS SHOWING RESPECT FOR HIS AUTHORITY AND WHAT HE CAN AND CAN'T DO FOR YOU. JESUS'S WORDS ARE SO STRONG THAT THEY HAVE POWER EVEN TODAY, THAT'S WHY WE SAY, FORGIVE ME JESUS, IN THE NAME OF THE "FATHER", AND OF THE "SON", AND OF THE "HOLY SPIRIT", AMEN. IF YOU WOULD TAKE A LITTLE TIME TO READ THE BIBLE, JUST LIKE YOU DO YAHOO, YOU WOULD NOT BE SO CONFUSED. IT IS A TREMENDOUS BOOK FILLED WITH GREAT STORIES AND GREAT MEN AND WOMEN. THERE HAS NEVER BEEN, NOR WILL THERE EVER BE ANY MAN THAT HAS, OR WILL DO, WHAT JESUS HAS DONE IN HIS THIRTY THREE SHORT YEARS ON EARTH. WOW !! WHAT A MAN, WHAT A STORY.

We ask God to forgive us our sins because the Bible tells us that we should repent (confess and then do them no longer) of our sins. As for the fearing His punishment on judgment day, well that really stems back to whether or not you believe that you can or cannot lose your salvation once you are a Christian. If you believe that you cannot lose your salvation then there is no reason for fear of Judgment. It should instead be a time that we look forward to. However if you do believe that you can lose your salvation then you live a life constantly worried about what will happen if you die before getting to confess. The fear of Judgment is more commonly used to convince nonbelievers that they are in need of a salvific relationship with Christ.

O.K.
When you get Born-Again, your Spirit gets RECREATED. That is what lets you go to Heaven.

After you get your Spirit Recreated (Saved, Born-Again), you will Probably Still be on the EARTH where the Reaping and Sowing Laws are Still Operating.
Now, do you want to Live a Blessed Life on the EARTH as a Child of GOD?
Then Confess your Sins when you Sin and GOD will be able to help stop some of the Reaping of the Results of your Sins.
Do you want to Feel GODs Presence alot? Then Confess your Sins when you Sin and you will Feel GODs Presence more.
Do you want to cut down on how much satan can attack you and cause pain in your life? Then confess your Sins when you Sin so on so on.

Sinning dosen't send you to Hell, just brings down Curses upon you while you Live on the EARTH.
Leaving the EARTH for Good with out getting your Spirit Recreated will.
Jesus is the Only One Who can Recreate you ( a Spirit Living in a Body).
Religion cannot Recreate (an Actual Spiritual Recreation) you.
Jesus can, HE has to have your Permission to do this for you.
Adam messed up his Spirit (became LOST) and passed it down to Everbody Else.
Hope this helps. Ditto.............

Jesus' death and resurrection paid the penalty for Sin, and gives Life. We are adopted as God's Children, and are placed into the Body of Christ by the Holy Spirit, when we accept the Gift He offers of Eternal Life. As Father, God holds us accountable for our actions, just as any earthly father would. When we make mistakes, and are "bad" we can come and ask forgiveness for blowing it. It doesn't change the relationship, it just keeps us close. We don't fear His punishment during judgment day because Christ took that judgment on the Cross, and our debt has been paid in full.

Wow that is serious!! Well we all sin and fall short of the glory of god....biblical quote. So god sent jesus to be tested and tried and die for us on the cross. None of us could make it so he sent his holy seed into a mortal women and jesus was born. However some people especially jews were not sure jesus was the king of the jews so they have not received him as the lord god, or the father son and holy spirit. Sooo they are not covered with the blood of christ that washes all of us clean from sin. Therefore those who choose not to choose and wait for jesus return will be brought before god and judged. That is why so many religions including the jews have such strong beleifs on what you can and cannot do from the old testament and the ten commandment guidelines that moses brought down from the mountain...that happened before christ and was god's attempt to bring the jews into the holy land...they disobeyed him and his judgement was to wander in the dessert for 40 years or until the last of that generation passed away. Sooo beleiving in christ saves us from the law that condemned us to death and hell. So I guess because god has put wrath upon mankind we still fear him and although we are saved by jesus from beleiving in him we still sin daily and so we ask for forgiveness so are life will be good and blessed...we will not get punished from are wrongdoing. This works sometimes and we escape gods punishment, but some sin we do to ourselves like for example sex before marriage can bring with it it's own set of consequence like unwanted pregnancy, abortion and aids. So again we are eternally forgiven but we still reap what we sow. In the end those of us who beleive in our heart are saved from death and hell, However if you read the bible you see that today we are good and tomorrow we sin so each day we need forgiveness and so we often get obsessed with asking for it because we are afraid not being forgiven...The longer you know god and watch him in your life the more you know his forgiveness is greater than our sin and so the story goes for each person strugling to know god and be good in his sight...we do are best even in sin and so he sent his son to die for us so we could live...lotsa blessings to you ...melissa
