very unlikely. i lick the batter all the time. but I got salmonilla from poorly cooked chicken. i think it's safe to eat the batter- in moderation.

I think the likeliness of getting salmonilla this way would be rare (I've been doing it for over 40 years and been fortunate never to have been sick because of it). The reason the possibility exists is because of the raw egg(s) used in the uncooked batter.
Guess it's better to be safe than sorry though and rinse the bowl and beaters with water rather than our tongue.

cake batter contains raw egg and you cant eat raw eggs its not safe

THIS IS SOME OF THAT NEW STUFF. I HAVE BEEN EATING CAKE BATTER SINCE THE SIXTIES AND MY KIDS EAT IT NOW. NO PROBLEMS. SOMEONE PROBABLY DRUNK THE WHOLE BOWL OF MIX.
