OK, I guess it doesn't technically say "rape." but how many women do you think will just willingly walk into a marrage with the people that just killed their tribesmen and family members?

Also, remember Matthew 5:17 - Jesus clearly supports this.

I think the virgin women of Midian were to be kept, not raped.

Judgment was brought upon Midian because Baal worship once again entered into God's people.

Num 31:16 Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD.
Num 31:17 Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.
Num 31:18 But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

I don't really expect a lot of understanding since you seem set on "interpretting" to fit your own agenda. Their was not to be left alive any seed of this people who were vehemently against God and His chosen people, all of the women who had been with man were possibly carrying on the bloodline of those that would continue to be a force against those that would follow and obey the perfect instruction of god. The women who had not were free to live among, marry and bear children with God's chosen. Nowhere is there even a hint that God encouraged, commanded or wanted these women to be raped. If you are not going to speak the truth it is better that you dont speak at all

Well, he didn't tell them to rape, but after reading it again, it does say "Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man." Numbers 31:17. The OT God is definitely a more vengeful and violent God isn't He? We can only thank Him for sending Jesus and ending that sort of thing.

Medianites were evil, cancerous people and it was necessary for God to take care of this problem. Sometimes it is necessary to perform a radical surgery to remove the cancer!! God had warned them that the wages of the sin was death, they just reaped what they sowed. God who gives you your life, can take it away too. You mght not like it, but that is the way it is.

BTW, I answered your other question regarding this matter with more detail. I do not want to repeat myself too much, the message is the same.

Do not kill me, I am just a messenger.

The Midianites got off lightly. Elsewhere in the old testament God told the Jews to kill all the Amalekites, evey man, woman and child.

Of course, god did no such thing. He does not exist, and even if he did exist, he was quite capable of wasting entire cities himself, so he would not have needed order human help to break his commandments.

So it looks to me very much like it is another case of the Jews blaming god for one of their atrocities against the peoples who occupy the lands they covet.

Can I say this without being accused of anti-Semitism?

Because the pack of goat-herders wandering around the desert needed a justification for their actions, so they used "god". The same thing exists today.

Old Testament is hardcore. Eye for an eye rather than what the New Testament says.

I don't understand how you are coming to that conclusion, by reading those particular verses. God NEVER said to rape.

God never said to rape, you are misunderstanding what you are reading.
