...and that they can never change that path no matter how hard they try? Just curious as to your thoughts on this.

Jarm this has nothing to do w/ personal choices...READ again. I'm talking about the fact that some people, regardless of how they try to strive for the best, do the right thing, or whatever, they are trapped in a certain way of living, or they always get proverbial doors slammed in their faces, no matter what. Then again, some other people seem to get everything they desire, with little effort.

Depends on who you ask

It might be "karma", "socio-economic" conditions, born under a "bad sign", limited education, poor social skills, bad "mojo", [religious] predestination, predetermination, genetic predisposition, genetic defects, ..............

If anyone wants a "scapegoat" to justify their "blighted" existence, there are any number of choices....

However, it is difficult to judge just how hard someone else is "trying" .....maybe they aren't trying as hard as they say they are....maybe their expectations of what a "good life" are unrealistic, maybe they have a "good life" compared to what it could have been without their efforts..

you live your own life, you make choices that have consequences
we all are "dealt" a starting hand,,,how you play it is up to you

Definitely. But not because of God. Babies born with aids, into poverty for one. We are so lucky to be typing on a computer, and it has nothing to do with God. A good God wouldn't let it be like this if he existed.

sounds like a description of karma to me. you live the consquences of your choices. If you keep making poor choices, then it gets harder and harder to find the right path again.
