i would do the back FIRST. this is how i do it.
put your hair in sections. work from the bottom up. ex: part hair down middle. make half down half up ponytails with either side. do the part that's down fist. when done, take section from part thats up, but do a medium size piece at a time. takes time, but it's worth it.

Whoever said start with the back was right. You find a big clip and using a comb or a finger, just part a small section at the nape of your neck, clip up the rest outta the way and get the straightening comb or flat iron and start straightening. I use a mirror once I get to the front, but I don't need one for the back. If you're careful you won't burn yourself.

once you're caught at domicile, do no longer straighten your hair. Lock up your straightener on each and every occasion available. in case you ought to use it in many situations occurring, ok. merely preserve your hair. Use mask, conditioning remedies, etc. do no longer worry approximately all of it too plenty. And in the experience that your hair gets fried someway, use a mask and pass the straightener for an afternoon or 2. Waves are warm, so that's ok. solid success!

I have long thick hair that I straighten but if you pin up the top and take small sections you can do it. You arms may hurt and it takes time but it can be done. If you flat iron make sure your hair is dry and use a product that helps straighten.

get to a mirror mounted on the wall or something so you won't have to hold it, then turn around and grab a mirror that you do hold and see what section you want to do next, grab the section then set the mirror down and pick up your straightener, and the use away! repeat untill you have the whole back head done

i make sections and keep them out of the way with clips. i start with the nape of the neck. i make small sections that i straightn then put into a holder out of the way. after that i just take down more sections and straighten them. i have supper currly hair (shoulder length currly, mid back straight.) and it takes me about one hour to do.
