Love my 03 Jetta TDI. I bought it to run on biodiesel. Have put 14000 miles on it in 3 months w/o a whimper. I'm looking to get 500000 miles out of this car. (I had a 1979 VW Rabbit diesel for 12 years, put almost 200000 miles on it before the body rusted out.)

I owned and drove four VWdiesels good cars. I had several Japanese diesel pick ups good service. I would buy a VWTD.

Engines are OK, especially older style (before 2004) TDI, they can last for 300,000. But overall VW reliability is not that great.

No...most reliable diesels are the one's contracted by Ford.......for years I've been a Chevy advocate...no more...not only did they sell out to China...the heads crack. Unfortunately...all American car companies have...corporate sabotage can one believe ...Chinese Cadallics !!??

Drove several for years as a company car, many miles per year, frequently pushed it to or slightly over 100 mph (German Autobahn), they never let me down.
