I'm have this word on the tip of my tongue. What's the word used for the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke when comparing it to John?

Synoptic. Referrs to the fact that 92% of Matthew and 87% of Luke are retellings (technical term "synpotics") of Mark. John, which was written much later, is almost entirely new material and avoids retelling the things already told by the other three books.

Are you thinking of the word Synoptics. The gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke are the Synoptics gospels.
