My wife has been renting this big screen for the past 2 years. now the company wants her to buy it because they said its not in any condition to take it back. we talked to me friend cledius who was a lawyer or somethin at one time. He said that we voided the rental agreement when we put cigaretts out on the tv. he was talking about normal wear and tear, or something like that, i dont understand all that educated talk. heres the prices im not good at math.

Old tv rental 81 dollars a month
we have to buy it so its now 930 dollars because its only 2 years old.

we can probably sell if for a 1000 or 1200, or I can trade it for this jackhammer i need, im a good trader.

New rental price 104 per month (my wifes pregnant so she gets and increase in her welfare payments when its born)

what is a better deal? buy the tv and then watch it, or buy that tv and sell if for what we can and then rent the newest model thats a little bigger. cant buy a big screen, dont have the money.

Do what you can afford. Renting is more expensive in the long run. Here's the math to prove it...

$81 x 24 = $1,944 (the amount of rental you've already purchased)

$1,944 + $930 = $2,874

No doubt you can purchase (with a credit card) a new TV of the same caliber for much less money.

If you have a credit card, it might be less of a monthly payment too just buy the TV you have and sell it when you want.

If you really want the new TV, then buy the old TV, sell it for as much as you can, and then rent the new TV, but keep in mind, 2 years of rental will cost you $2,496 ($104 x 24 months) plus whatever they want to charge you to buy it at that point.

you have already paid over 1900.00 for it already, there is always a pay off price suppose to be posted. They are taking advantage of you. Call the main office of the chain of rental stores, demand to speak to the highest manager in the building. If you are not in good voice with demanding things, have a friend that is call and tell them to say,

I am renting a tv that I have paid almost $2000.00 for; the manager of this store ... tell them his name, is forcing us to pay almost another $1000 for it and buy it, haven't we all but paid for your rented tv? What is the pay off on our account. Rent to buy is just that, at the end I am suppose to OWN it RIGHT???? I want an updated contract available by ,...give a day of the week you can be there to collect the paper work, and DONT SIGN ANYTHING at the store. take it home and look it over with a friend you trust.

You could end up with the model you have now, without paying any more, and own it if you say everything right. Don't let them screw you over those rental places kill you on interest. Be sure to call the Main office not where you bought the tv. Go over his head, he is flat going to put that 930 in HIS pocket, not the cash register. Find out the payoff before you give them anymore money, should watch this one, wait until the baby is about six months you will be able to afford payments after the diapers and formula is less. Trust me kids are not cheap, don't get any new payments with the child on the way. Be happy with what you have and make them give you the total price from the first day you started making payments, if you had come in the next day with cash , they would have had to SELL it to you then with out all that interest.

good luck

It would be better to buy who rents a TV these days unless you are renting to own thats just plumb silly. You pay too much just by renting and all the money you have put in rent you could have already bought more than 2.

Sounds to me like you cannot live high off the hog. Why would you put Cig. butts out on something you intended not to own? It was not yours. I treat someone elses property better then my own, so I can build up my credit.

PLEASE spare us this rubbish. Your "facts" don't correlate from one fairy tale to the next. AND, if your friend Cledius has his law degree (NOT, I'm sure) you and Meatsicklez can quit coming on Yahoo looking for legal advice for your proposed daily law suits in these inane scenarios - you've got your legal "authority".
