On this forum, seems like being against immigrants is mostly due to racism?

When you say illegal immigrants take away your jobs, have ANY of you applied to a job and they turned you away because they were employing illegal immigrants?
When you say illegal immigrants use up your tax money, they pay taxes as well but don't get any returns Because they are illegal
When you say illegal immigrants keep down the minimun wage, guess who objected to a raise in the minimun wage just about 2 months ago? the government
I think people just don't want mexicans,latinos whoever around and that's just plain racist!
I know most of you didn't even know they were around until it became this big national debate!

interesting perspective. I agree that racists and bigots will jump on the bandwagon to stop illegal immigration but we still can't ignore the real issue: they are illegal and breaking the law. We can't let that happen forever or we might as well just not have borders....

We limit poor immigrants because even if poor people pay all taxes they owe, they don't begin to cover their costs in education and other services. The taxes poor people pay simply isn't very much. Our education is failing in border states and areas where illegals concentrate, and so are health care and other services.

Until this became a big national debate, not many knew how much of the economic impact on those services was due to illegal immigration, and many people, such as myself, began to research that after the marches. Then I realized what a huge issue it was. Were this about race, I could have noticed demographic changes just by living in Los Angeles. What I didn't know was how many were illegally here.

It is an issue they love to bring up to take peoples eyes off the budget and the war!

There is NO WAY, as we have seen, that any idiot Republican is going to vote illegals out of this country! They need them!! Who else can they work 12 hours a day, 7 days per week and pay them $6,000 a year, before taxes! It is manufacturers and migrant worker farmers who doctor immigration and employment records, not Mexicans!

It all has to do about Racism as the Republicans, who complain the loudest, won't do a damn thing! You think this is something new?

People in the UK feel threatened by all these new immigrants, but I tell you - I've wasted so much time on the phone trying to get an English tradesman around to decorate my home. Either they are too busy, promise to post a quote or never pitch up - I've literally been let down 5 times in a row. I've now found a fantastic hardworking Polish guy , who though his English is poor, he is incredibly hardworking and diligent, very reasonable and mentally is way above this kind of work. But it is the ATTITUDE. They are'nt prepared to sit back and go on the dole. and do nothing with their lives unlike so many Brit youngsters. Maybe the public should be moaning at the unemployed youth who have left this gap in the employment market which forces the government to open its doors to poorer countries?

Well, I have been both aware of the illegal immigration issue, and vocal against it, for years now ... and it has nothing to do with race or ethnic background ... it has to do with the fact that we now have untold illegal aliens in this country, we don't know from where, we don't know how many, we don't know their background, we don't know what they want in this country ... how can anyone agree with this lunacy? Do you not want to know who is here?? Do you not want to know what they are doing? Do you want an open border policy? And no, not all illegal immigrants are Hispanics ... and plenty of legal Hispanics want an end to this illegal immigration, as do plenty of other legal immigrants .... why does this always have to be turned into a racist issue??

Miss Dahlia it is not due to racism. It is because the illegal Mexicans have taken my Daddy's future. Illegal Mexicans do not make it easy for my Daddy to work, so he doesn't. Illegal Mexicans made my Mama fat and now she crys alot and eats alot of scrambled eggs. Daddy says the government is good and makes a man like him proud to be an American. They give us a roof over our head, food on the table and they allow groups like my Daddy belongs to, to congregate and fellowship about what the Illegal Mexicans have done to us. Daddy says there is not racism there is only one race and that is ours white Americans. Illegal Mexicans can't steal that.

Crying Racism on this issue is off point. While only twenty years of age and having paid for a good education myself, being an anglo male, I was denied work cuz the black, brown and female persons where to have those jobs first. Affirmative action. It has been thus so for the rest of my life. I'm 60 now. I made it work for myself such as I did. But I have not forgotten.
I don't face the problem now, but I have many associates in the building biz that complain of how they can't compete with the low wage, illegal laborers or contractors who hire them ...not to mention the numbers of competitors. The slices of the market/labor pie is cut very thin by illegals competing in the job market. Big companies love it ...it drives the cost of labor way down and a penny saved times thousands makes for bigger profits for them, the rich ...and hard times for the little guys doing the work and giving up the pennies.
Illegals MAY pay taxes but it is a well known fact that the goods and services they need from government sources (education, welfare, healthcare) far outstrip the realative pitance they contribute in tax revenue. Many are cash and carry customers cuz they are paid in cash. No tax revenue here.
Sure the Democrats don't want a min. wage. It would make the Republicans look good. And they do look good now that we have a raise in min. wage. Unfortunately, this won't help as the illegals will still work for less and get the jobs ILLEGALLY. Once the basis of illegal is established it continues to track that way and denegrates and destroys for everyone who is legit.
The immigration service is charged with bringing in a balance of all types of people from all over the world. Yes, it is troubling to see our neighborhoods fill with mostly, out of sinc dirt farmers from Mexico who trash our streets with soiled baby diapers, drive without insurance or lic, hit and run, drink and drive, use resources to the degree that American born citizens are robbed of resources, etc. I could go on. Mexicanos are as good as anyone but they need to be screened ...like everyone else.
I don't expect you to agree as you are kinda out of touch with the truth and facts/figures but I will assure you that many, many Americans were aware of the influx long before it came to a pusy head, as it has now.
This problem will and has ruined our nation in many ways and will be the death of our lifestyle as it relates to world association. We well/are not longer a first world country. The influx has caused and will make worse much of what is chaos in the US of American currently.

that is bull....they use very very expensive emergency rooms for all their medical needs...they send their kids to school.....where do you think that money comes from.....many many many don't pay any taxes because they are often paid in cash by unscrupulous companies who hire them.....when they do pay taxes it is in someone elses SSN that they have stolen....they often drive withou license and therefore insurance and someone else has to pay when there is an accident......most credible assessments have them costing the taxpayer more than their low paying wages are keeping prices down....and it is not racist to voice one's opinion.....we didn't voice our concern because as an individual you can not have any concept of how large the problem is until someone is able to go up 20,00 feet and assess it...it is like being in a forest...there are trees all around, you can see that....but you have no way of knowing how big the forest is....same with Mexican illegal immigration...thankfully someone did and now we can have an open informed discussion.........

You are absolutely correct.

Most of the responses are racial motivated and is hid by politics and by calling them "illegals". Some people just can't stand to see too many minorities "overtaking" cities. They think that this country is suppose to stay predominately white and that white people are superior to all other ethnicity's.
