well, the alochol in the beverages we drink is ethyl alcohol. it is essentially a toxin to our bodies and needs to be metabolized in the liver or else it'll do us some damage. so there really isn't any nutritional value to alcohol. if you mix alcohol with the stuff you find in beer and other beverages you may get some calories from that but in alcohol itself there is no value to it.

Alcohol thins the blood, is a sleep aid, and provides 7 calories per gram = according to my nutrition instructor last simester.

Wine is supposed to be used for heart health but only 6 to 8 oz a day and I think red wine is best. Most other alcoholic beverages add empty calories to your diet.
