If someone prefers to hang out with their own kind, it's not exactly racism unless they say the other races are this and that. Sometimes they hang out with their own race because they can share the same views the other races dont have.

It also has to do with what the media and "hollywood" shows different races as. This is where most of the racism that i get comes from, that and from the deep south where it was all started. Its more then just judging people based on their color and physical characteristics, it's also judging them on what other people have shown them as... and how cool the picture they made was.

Racism is the belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others. BUT, it's also discrimination or prejudice based on race.
Where it gets tricky is that word discrimination. When we choose 'kind with kind', we DO discriminate in that we make distinctions on the basis of class or category without regard to individual merit. In doing so, we show 'preference' or prejudice. Discrimination is the act of choosing from many options, in this case...all possible partners. By choosing from only certain ones, we 'discriminate', ie: we become racist. Depending on how we word things, it can be very subtle to the point of not sounding racist, but if YOUR race was the one being rejected, you'd feel what I'm talking about. It's a very controversial issue, isn't it?

When you want to do something with people of your own skin type or race I think it may be in fact racism. We have to give people the benefit of doubt, not everyone fills their stereotype.

Alone! No. It depends how a person judge another. Is it in the negative terms, then yes. If it is in a positive terms, no.
But, then again, it is only human nature. Even from the beginning of time. Adam and Eve, we create a categories, hence judgment of others.

I can see that poeple want to hang out with their own kind since they would have more in common but if one refuses to mingle with someone just because of their race or background then thats messed up and that is ignorance and racism.
I have friends from all over the world and I love it coz I learn many diffrent things about their cultural background and believes and its the best thing a person can get out of life!
