Try Symantec Norton Anti-virus 2006 or McAfee Anti-virus. Both are fairly good.

You'll avoid much heartache if you use the Live one care from Microsoft. Since Microsoft does the operating system, live one care works seamlessly with it.

The other anti-virus programs are always in a catch up mode with Microsoft.

I'm not saying Microsoft is the best. It's just the easiest to use.

Avast.com or grisoft.com. Read the site, they are confusing but I have had both for 4 years and never, not even once, have we gotten a virus. Several highspeed internet services, that I personally know, use either one.

a good antivirus, well, it would help if you first viewed the consumer's choice ten top antivirus, a good antivirus should be very effective and easy to use, norton is effective but causes lots of problems in it's usability, i would go for AVG free edition http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/ because it's very effective, removes viruses and worms, easy to use, easy to update, and the second i would go with is bit defender, it blocks viruses at entry, very very effective, friendly user interface too, ub can download it at http://www.bitdefender.com/PRODUCT-14-en--BitDefender-8-Free-Edition.html and it's also free..so make a choice....
