Let us first define the term "walkie talkie". This a common reference to *any* handheld portable radio, regardless of frequency or radio service. There are CB, FRS, GMRS... etc walkies.

With that in mind, YES, you can use a "walkie talkie" in conjunction with a CB radio *if* the walkies are *CB walkies*.

Those 22 channel FRS/GMRS walkie you see everywhere cannot be used with CB radios as they operate on different frequencies. Also, bear in mind, use of GMRS radios requires a license. See the manual to your radios for information.

Get some CB walkies and you will be fine.

CB radio and walkies operate on different frequencies. You can get a handheld CB but these are poor quality signals for longer range use and the handheld units are quite bulky. Walkie-talkies have an even shorter range. FRS radios have a good signal for up to 5 miles without the use of land based antennas and are very small. Push to talk such as "nextel" require a subscription to their network. Moare companies opt for the push to talk because of the reliability of the system and versatility of the equipment, and despite the cost of subscription, they are more cost effective than trying to build something anywhere near their performance.

It all depends on what you do, if you spend a lot of time traveling, or drive to a different town to work then it may be worth it because you can hear truckers reporting whats up ahead, if you stay local most of the time it isn't really worth it, a cell phone is better if you get stuck somewhere. I used to have A lot of fun with a CB but internet chat has taken over, so there isn't as many people out there, I miss CB tag.
